I don't think she's 100%. She didn't look all that comfortable in the semis or today.

Ajee was close. Athing needs this so she can keep pushing that drive to get a new PR. I feel like the commentators always forgot to mention that Athing hasn't ran that much outdoor this season.

I noticed that as well today. Crazy she didn't look all that comfortable and still gets first with a 1:57.16 time.

I thought she looked very comfortable in the semis. I was wondering if the heat impacted her a bit here.

I think her ranking is high enough in the long jump, but she's off the standard in the high jump by 1 cm and doesn't compete in it… how idiotic is that???? She won't be making the finals in the long jump either jumping like that! Would have easily qualified in the hep, but her coaches are ******ed. Guess we finally see where her priorities are. IN A CHAMPIONSHIP YEAR, nonetheless. She needs to get herself surrounded by better people. She'll be 26 by Paris 2024, won't have to many cracks at the Olympic Heptathlon

I rewatched Athing's final today as I was traveling yesterday and could only watch the last 100 of the race. A couple of things stand out to me about this race. It's clear, these races are Athing's to win or lose. It's also clear that the top 3-4 in the USA behind Athing have trained and have learned what her strategy is to win these races. If they can stay with her, they have a chance to out kick her. That was the philosophy yesterday and it almost worked. The question is, can Athing get into the 1:54-1:55s consistently? We know she's training well but hasn't had as many outdoor races to prove her self due to illness. I like when Athing leads from the start, but I wish she would work on pulling away on the back stretch a bit more instead of the turn. Worlds will be an incredible race against the Brit, Wilson, and Roger's in my opinion. My belief is, Athing has them right where she wants them. I don't believe the other 3-4 can hit anything better than a 1:56:50, but I do think Athing has a 1:53 in her. Just train with Brandon and see if you can keep up with him Athing.

In reference to my comment yesterday about her not looking comfortable in the semis in finals. I still believe that. I think she was surprised she wasn't able to pull away and that may have added to the uncomfortable feeling. Let's face it though, these women are making it around the track 2 times before most of us can finish one lap. Lol

I agree with looking more at the back stretch. She did is at the Olympics and pulverized everyone. Hopefully yesterday is also some motivation. Its been awhile since she's been challenged and that can lead to complacency.
