If Shamier would ever get her steps down between hurdles she would be right up there with Muhammad and Mclaughlin

Whoa Noah Lyles. Where was that at the Olympics? Good run.
Agree and I definitely think she will also be running the 400 sooner than later.Bonzer103 said:
I honestly do not know who will be able to pose a real threat to her. Which is a shame because she needs someone to push her best time, plus I bet she would enjoy the competition. Maybe she will start to run the 400 again for the variety/competition ?
Obviously world rankings make no sense. TaylorSwift13 explained the parameters used to arrive at world rankings in some depth in the thread that we all followed on Aggies in the Olympics T&F. Taylor, if you are following this, maybe you will do so again? In any event , as I recall, rankings are very formula based giving more weight to pro meets and certain races that are higher profile. Mu will be #1 sooner than later.aggiedrjdub said:
Ironically, I googled world rankings for the 800m women's race. As of 8/17/21, Mu is ranked 5th in the world. Make it make sense, people. Make it make sense.
I’ll say it again - @WorldAthletics disrespect of @NCAATrackField is out of control. Perfect example:

Heptathlete Tyra Gittens of Trinidad & Tobago and @aggietfxc is 4th in the World in 2021. But b/c @WorldAthletics undervalues @NCAA comp, lesser athletes will qualify over her.
They just posted their first update post-Prefontaine. Mu moved into 1st in the rankings.AG75FYL said:
Do rankings really mean anything after you have destroyed everyone 3 straight times? The trials, the Olympics and the Prefontaine.
That's really confusing considering scoring points in a heptathlon is dependent on individual performance and score. What does it have to do with how competitive a meet is? I mean, are they assuming that the more competitive the meet the harder an athlete will compete? IDK. It's weird.taylorswift13 said:
Here's my post of how absurd it was leading into the Olympics!
For a world ranking mark, the score/result plays little importance. What World Athletics pays attention to is the "quality" of the track meet. Let's say Tyra scores 6400 points in a Heptathlon a college track meet in the USA, THATS equivalent to a 5900 in a "pro meet" in Europe because they consider the international track meet to be more competitive and professional even if the results are worse. They don't factor the score equally whatsoever. Which is why collegiate athletes were hurt bad! They have Athing Mu ranked 28th wven though she has the world leading time LOL. It's ridiculous, and keeps Tyra from competing in the Heptathlon and High Jump where she belongs!I’ll say it again - @WorldAthletics disrespect of @NCAATrackField is out of control. Perfect example:
