I'm nowhere near a swimming expert but a fan, and just saw Shaine Casas advance to the finals in the 100 Backstroke! He qualified with the 3rd fastest time, Ryan Murphy looks like he is going to lead the group but I hope Casas can get 2nd! Does anyone know what other races he's competing in! Lisa Bratton is up next in the 100 Back Semifinals!

I'd appreciate if others more knowledgeable at swimming chimed in!

Shane Casas is swimming 100 back, 200 back and 200IM at the trials
He is also entered in the 100 free.
He is seeded
2nd in the 100 back
3rd in the 200 back
8th in 200IM
17th in 100 free

Casas gets 3rd in the 100 Back

Bummed about Casas getting 3rd. I thought he had it at the turn. That Armstrong kid dropped 1.21 seconds off his best coming into the meet. And Casas got up under the lane ropes again for the second straight race. Not sure what's happening there. Hopefully he settles down for the 200s.

He has to swim 200 back / 200 IM prelims and semi-finals on Thursday. Finals Friday. Fortunately the back final is first and that's where he has his best shot. He's favored to get 2nd in the 200 back. And Armstrong didn't qualify so hopefully nobody else comes out of the blue.

Very exciting Trials so far! Definitely the top swim meet in the world. Outside of the Olympics. It's been electric in there. Can't wait to watch more tonight, and highlights from last night.

Barely. Was well off his best in both swims today. Well off how he swam in late May. Not sure what's going on there. Back half in all his races this week haven't been great. Is he sick? Is it nerves? Hope he just puts the hammer down tomorrow and tries to run away with it and hang on...what he's doing isn't working.

Casas scratched the 100 fly this morning. I'm starting to wonder if he's sick.

That's a shame. Had seen where he qualified for a few other events but didn't swim those either.

The Annie Lazor story is why we watch sports. Amazing, and so happy for her.
