Lol the live feed went to a sky view of the stadium so they won't show that 100 hurdle race

If they do run a protest, my guess is it will be after the 200 to give workers time to set up the hurdles on the sprint lanes.

Katie Izzo is the only Arkansas girl to advance in the 10k, as Devin Clark finishes in 13th.

I didn't think she would have placed that high, she spent the majority of the race in lane 2. Everyone around her ran slower, I don't think she scores at nationals! But it will be close! The 10k won't have much effect of the national championship! It's between our jumps, 400, and heptathlon, USC's sprints and they looked good today, and LSU's sprints/hurdles and a few jumpers. Then the relays would be huge as both can excel. We really need Charokee to step it up a notch and drop her time in the lower 50's! Arkansas lost their chances with Campbell not advancing in the pole vault! It'll be a three team race! I'm going to be paying close attention to USC and LSU as much as us on Saturday!

Evidently Coach Henry said "Not in my house" and protested the protest on the 100m hurdles. Guess who won?

Sucks for the girl though, Texas and Arkansas may have kissed their national championship hopes goodbye after not qualifying two of their national favorites. Texas isn't having Tara Davis or Chanel Brisset competing in the 100 hurdles, both are ranked top 5. Number one pole vaulter in the NCAA for Arkansas won't compete either. I'm afraid this may open up more points for LSU and USC, but I think we will be fine!

The left the hurdles in place for a long time after the 100 hurdles and the tu runner was around the blocks with an official in a blue shirt. I thought for sure she would have a do over. But that was only the second false start in 2 days and there have been a lot of races.

Sad to see seniors Richardson and Reed 400m individual career end like that at A&M because they are such great runners. With a healthy Richardson and Reed, we would match toe to toe with USC in the 400m.
Richardson probably could come back next if she wants for the year she lost last year.

Did they end up selling any tickets to the general public if any are available for the day?

The article on 12th man from yesterday/last night references tickets being available for sale at the box office outside the stadium. It might be worth giving them a call, but I bet you can get tickets.

I checked the 12th man foundation ticket website yesterday and they did not have any tickets for that nights session online and so I called them and they said tickets were available at the gate and they were. The ticket windows are near the north side of Cushing, the side the softball stadium is on. Should be no problem getting tickets. First running event tonight is at 5:30.
Richard Croome has a nice story about the meet in the Bryan Eagle newspaper today. A good part of is about Taryn Milton achieving her dream. She had a nice little dance after seeing her mark, and since her team mates were just arriving for flights there was a nice little celebration among them.

Attendance was poor yesterday. One guy who watched it on ESPN said from the shots they gave of the grand stand between heats indicated hardly anyone showed up.
We sat on the north end of the grand stand, around a lot of families of athletes, and when I got into a discussion with a lady about attendance, she said it was because no one other than relatives/friends of athletes were allowed in. When I told her I bought GA tickets she told me I shouldn't really be allowed to be there. ????????

I think the NCAA dropped the ball on ticket info for this regional. It still says they aren't available.

Thanks everyone! I think my son (15) and I will make the short drive up from Houston today and give it a shot. If we can get in, great. If not, always fun to spend time driving, drinking a cold Dr. Pepper and eating beef jerky!

Lane assignments are up for the women. To advance to Oregon we have to get top 3 in your heat or the next 3 times. I love how our girls are set up! We should be able to get one 100 hurdler in, Mustin has a good shot at top 3, Charokee Young and Tierra Robinson-Jones are in a heat where they are the second and third fastest qualifiers! Our 4x100 needs to beat one of UCLA or Baylor to finish top 3 and I think they could and the 4x400 is in a good heat as well!

Looks like you can buy tickets online now. I think the NCAA delayed all of this and everyone e realized after the first two days, that they should be selling tickets.

I think only family members will be allowed into the championships in Eugene. The softball regionals at Washington and UCLA only allowed family members. They canceled all tickets sold for the Olympic Trials which are in a few weeks.

An interesting note, apparently coaches protested the hammer throw's measuring system so the entire first flight is throwing again soon! One girl from the first flight had already qualified but she will have to throw again!

A funny thing happened at the NCAA West Region last night. Chanel Brissett from Texas one of the top 100 Hurdlers in the country false-started in the 100 Hurdles. It was a questionable call at best and Texas filed a protest over the false-start. After the games committee met and discussed the situation it was determined that Chanel would be allowed to run by herself after the 10,000 meters was done, and if she ran a time faster than the 24th athlete she would advance to the next round. Well once Pat Henry, the head coach at Texas A&M found out about it he filed a counter protest about the situation given he might have a hurdler who would get knocked out after Saturday's race as she was currently ranked 12th. The games committee then sided with Coach Henry and told the Texas coach, Edrick Floreal that Brissett wouldn't be allowed to run. She went ballistic. After the 10k was done and people were starting to leave the track Brissett was screaming at the top of her lungs.....F$#@ Pat Henry he F$##@ me over. Just kept repeating F$$#@ Pat Henry. Coach Floreal had her by the arm over by the check-in tent and was dragging her away but she just kept screaming at the top of her lungs....F$#@ Pat Henry. Someone told me Brissett started calling Coach Henry at home screaming at him. Just a great situation between two schools that hate each other. Only in Texas.

Uh...no. You screwed up and false started. You have no one to blame but yourself. Entitled whorn.

Here's a little quote from Taryn and her though process watching the last two flights jump! Must have been really emotional and makes you happier that she got it!

"I'm sitting there on my phone on Flash Results refreshing the page," Milton said. "I knew there were good jumpers in flights 3 and 4, including my teammates Tyra [Gittens] and Deborah [Acquah]. I just kept looking at the board on the big screen and I kept seeing my name drop down further and further and I started praying. I was trying to keep myself calm but I was very anxious. Then when I was 11th I was like 'Stay there, you are not quite on the bubble, you are not 12th, but you are right next to it.' I was just trying to keep myself calm."

They both could still have another outdoor left. Richardson due to Covid in 2020 and Reed due to covid year and only competing outdoors twice in 2018. Neither one was honored at Senior Day earlier this month.

The thing is, I'm really not sure she false started. That post has it right...the initial call was questionable at best.

I think Brissett was more upset that she was reinstated, and then DQ'd again.

I know one of the starters. There was nothing questionable about it at all. And don't think that video didn't get reviewed over and over and over again before the final call was made. She jumped. She got DQ'd. End of story. Girl from San Diego State did the EXACT same thing in one of the 200 heats and there was no drama. Typical Longhorn BS.

I was honestly she surprised she was DQ'd. Although her movement was abrupt and right before the gun went off, she only leaned forward and kept her feet on the blocks. I was expecting a warning, but maybe they had already warned the field. I know the rule states that if the starter is unable to "rescue" the athlete and warn people to stand up it is a foul therefore a disqualification. It was a close call, but the right one to make in a championship meet with so many lingering effects. You can't allow that to happen while you DQ others. Same thing happened in the 400 hurdles!
