This is such an interesting performance list especially on the men's side! Carlton Orange in the mile?!?! I suppose this meet is a workout for out 800 guys with two dropping down and two moving up! But I'd love to see how Clay would look in the 1500! His PR is a 3:44 so if can be around there or drop it lower that would add an interesting dynamic to our team!!! Glad Mpoke is going for the 400 hurdles, him, Smith and Thomas could provide a huge tandem there! I'm surprised Mirabelli isn't competing hopefully he's not hurting and I'd think all 3 of the guys have a shot at nationals being over 230! Maybe Dixon and Orange doing other events means they're both running the 800 this weekend! If our 4x100 is affected that would hurt them at Texas Relays as well since the 10 days would be up on Thursday!

Here is the link to ticket sales for the highly anticipated Texas Relays, although there's no high school competition, many colleges will be competing as well as many pro athletes like Jenna Prandini, Gabrielle Thomas, Kori Carter, Sandi Morris, Khamari Montgomery, Will London, Vernon Norwood, and former Ags such as Shamier Little, Robert Grant, and Annie Kunz! For general admission all meet pass it's $40 and for a reserved seat near the finish line meet pass it's $60

We will also get to see two Aggies have their outdoor debut in the 1500 in a highly anticipated race featuring Athing Mu and Annie Fuller! That one should be worth the price of admission alone!

Tyra Gittens won't be competing in the heptathlon anymore here at Texas Relays and will instead just compete in the high jump. After what she did at nationals she deserves to rest her legs even more! But the great news is she'll likely compete in the heptathlon at home at the Texas A&M Team Invitational April 9th and 10th!

The Aggies men have the record in the 4x400m, 4x800m and decathlon (Lindon Victor)
The Aggie women have the record in the 4x100m, 4x800m, sprint medley relay and Discuss (Shelbi Vaughn)

The Aggies were the most outstanding team

This year's meet is more of regular college type track meet with traditional individual events (100m, 200m, 400m, 100 hurdles, 110 hurdles, 400m hurdles, 800m, 1500 m etc) rather than the relay festival type events (4x100, 4x200, 4x800, 4x1500, sprint medley relay, distance medley relay etc)

It seems like some of our athletes are missing action this weekend again due to Covid issues

Head Coach Pat Henry
on athletes being unavailable due to contact tracing:
"It's discouraging, we can't quite get past all this contact tracing. It got the best of our men's team during the indoor season and now here we are minus a few of our top athletes. It changes everything we're doing at this meet. We're not changing what we're trying to do but we just can't do it. We're going to line people up and we're going to do the best that we can. These athletes that we're taking over there are good athletes and they're going to be ready to go."

I believe Ryan Martin, Emmanuel Yeboah are the athletes out due to covid protocols, could be the change up Pat Henry was referring to when it comes to the 4x100 relay, which hurts, but we still have Comick, Broome, and Achane who are still scheduled in the 200 today, let's hope they race

Tyra Gittens has indicated that she is quarantined due to contact tracing following the Arizona meet and will be out of Texas Relays.
This contact tracing issue is getting a bit annoying now because it takes you away for two weeks without training which could be huge for the progress during the season. Are all the other schools following contact tracing the same way. How many times can you be quarantined for contact tracing? So every meet you attend you can effectively be quarantined after the meet because of contact tracing?
Just wondering who else might have been contact trace and quarantined following the Arizona meet.
The strategy has be that the athletes get out there and do some good times and mark in their individual events early and hope it can qualify them top 32 for regionals.

I agree because he said "now we are minus a few of our top athletes" (could be men or women)
He also said "It got the best of our men's team during the indoor season" which could imply that it is the women now

Only out one week if they don't contract it.

Honestly I don't have a huge issue with Tyra catching a break after essentially doing 14 events in three weeks at SEC/NCAA Indoor. Should be a nice rest for her as long as she doesn't catch it.

Yeah I agree Tyra could do with a little rest. She actually had Covid in December before the start of the indoor season. I don't know how many people have contracted it more than once

That's big. We need him to step up if we're going to win the 4x4 at NCAA's. Dixon and Deadmon are half of an NCAA record relay team. Got to find the next two best pieces. He should definitely be one of them.
