Discuss thrower Serena Brown has transferred to Iowa State. She didn't compete in 2019. I don't know if it was injury or some other reason. She has a PB of 60.39m from 2018

It continues. Gabe Oladipo has left A&M for Texas Tech. Just wondering what is going on in Throws department. Serena Brown and now Gabe Oladipo.
I also notice some of the athletes have remove Texas A&M track and field on their twitter accounts.
It continues to be a secret on what is going with the coaching
Bubortho

Triniaggie. Let me help you out, Please add all the points that these departing athletes scored for the team (National level) while at A&M. This may may help with your negative speculation of what is going on with the program. Cheers

Bubortho. Why didn't these athletes score at NCAA? Ask yourself that question instead of accusing me of negative speculation. Weren't these athletes recruited to develop and score at NCAA and if after several years they haven't scored and decided to leave the program, then you be the judge. I base all my comments here on actual facts. For your information and other like you these are two top notched athletes. They both represented their counties at world junior championship. Serena Brown was a 60m plus discuss thrower which could have won NCAA this year but did not compete and left the program. Gabe Oladipo was one of the top junior athlete in the discus and shot put in the country when he arrived at A&M and have definitely struggled while here. Those are the facts. I am not making anything up. There is no track program that is perfect, there are always challenges but the program here is always about secrecy and that is what some people have a problem with as supporters of the track and field program. I have nothing further to say

An interesting comparison of progression is between Adrian Piperi of The Woodlands/UT and Oladipo. Both competed head to head as high schoolers and commonly placed 1-2. Oladipo had an incredible, record setting post hs graduation summer.

Piperi, however, has exceeded most folks expectations through his sophomore year at Texas, winning the NCAA Outdoor this year and has bested 70'. Oladipo hasn't come close to 60 yet if my memory serves me.

Pointing the blame solely at the staff is foolish, just as it is when football (or any other sport) has good players that leave the program.

Bubortho makes an excellent point. You could even remove 'National level' and say 'conference level'. Texas A&M sends as many athletes year-in, year-out to NCAA's as any school in the country -- and across a significant amount of event areas, which most schools don't do. This staff does an excellent job at getting the most out of what their athletes give them.
triniaggie

Who is blaming solely the coaches ? Certainly not me.
What excellent point did Bubortho made? The athletes who have left did not score at NCAA? But why is the question. That says a lot of the thinking on this board. I rest my case.

Look at the top 10 picks in any given year in the NFL or NBA draft. Do they all pan out? You're basically demanding the same answer as to why not. There are a multitude of reasons why those players don't pan out and we don't always know the reason why.

And again, the Ags do have a lot of kids that ARE getting it done. They were one officials call (Bobby Grant) away from having both teams in the top four at the NCAA Championships. That's a pretty solid year.

Read on another thread that we have hired sprint and hurdles coach Brandon Han from Floriday State. I've tried to read the various threads to make sure I haven't missed something, but will he coach men and women or just the women? There was earlier conjecture about "Boogie" Johnson coming here so I am a bit confused if that happened and this is a second hire on women's side or he will coach both. Thanks in advance for a bit of clarity here!

I would assume he coaches the women's sprinters and all the hurdlers, like he did at Florida State (and Vince Anderson before him). His job was the only one open so the staff is now complete.

Didn't realized both Virginia Kerley and Gabrielle McDonald also transferred to Texas Tech.
They are listed on the Texas Tech 2019-2020 roster

This is essentially a mass exodus of some pretty young talent that would/should have contributed mightily the next few years. Disappointing to see.

Kerley was progressing as a jumper, but not enough to score nationally. McDonald wasn't improving much. Easy for them to move on since Coach Anderson is gone.
