Pretty good race this past weekend. Rosberg coasted without Hamilton starting at the front to challenge him, but after that, lots of good stuff happening.

More first corner shenanegans. Mostly a racing incident, but if you're going to blame anyone, Massa's your guy. He needs to shut up about the younger drivers.

Hamilton and Ricciardo battling both their way through the field was awesome. Ricciardo's was a bit more impressive, in my eyes, since he wasn't in the Mercedes. His battle with Alonso was pretty epic in the closing laps. It was similar to Alonso's battle with Seb in the UK, minus the whining.

Bottas did a nice job holding onto second after Hamilton reeled him in. The early stop (anticipating the Safety Car, which I can't believe wasn't deployed) hurt Hamilton, as he completely destroyed his left front turning in fast lap after fast lap. The damage to his front wing didn't help that any.

Yeah. I'm a Williams fan, but Felipe boogered that one up.

That was a spectacular race. Great theater.

What a fantastic race! The last 10 laps were so exciting to watch and amazing when you consider where Hamilton started the race.

sounds like Mercedes is backing Hamilton's decision to stay in front of Nico, which is nice to see. I couldn't understand why Nico was whining when he couldn't even get into the DRS zone.

What a great race! Another amazing job by Hamilton making his way through the field from the back. And another great race from Ricciardo. That kid can drive. It's hard to overshadow a 4-time WDC, but he's doing it.!

I also don't understand what Merc was thinking in asking Lewis to move over and let Nico through. It's not like Nico was right on his gearbox, he was over a second behind! Hamilton did the right thing.

Loved the three-way battle for the win in the last few laps, which turned into a three-way battle for the podium.

Hamilton - P2.
Vettel put RBR in P3 with a nice effort albeit 2 seconds off the pace of Mercedes.
Did you guys see what Marussia did to Rossi? I hope he gets picked up by Haas, nothing good is going to happen with those back marker teams.

No, not DirectTV. Some third rate cable company here in Florida called "WOW!". I uttered a Torbush-esque "WOW!" myself when I realized the race didn't record.

That was pretty clever 93. I'm not a huge Hamilton fan but I'm a little disappointed that he's not fighting back.
It will be interesting to see what, if anything, Wolff and Lauda do.
It was also interesting to see Horner standing up for Vettel. The offseason should be interesting for these two teams.

Hammy's chances took a serious blow this weekend. Nico has certainly won the mind game contest. He also is getting the breaks when it comes to reliability.

Hammy overcame more electrical gremlins and a last second prerace wing replacement to take the win. I think Rosberg is starting to show cracks in his armor. The pressure is mounting.

that was definitely a pucker moment for nico. saw Hamilton coming and overcooked it scrambling for more pace.

it's going to be a fun second half. Hamilton needs 100% reliability and/or nico to have some problems.

Full panic mode is a go at Maranello.

They've been pretty non-competitive for a couple of years now, and now they're behind Merc, RBR, and Williams. The only reason that they're that high is because Alonso can make any car look decent with his driving ability. So, full blown panic mode might be called for at this point. Something has to change to get them back up competing for race wins again.

Hammy taking the lead has to be a major psychological blow to Rosberg at this point. He was obviously extremely upset at having lost pole position. The crazy thing is that the unreliability of the Merc cars has slightly opened the door for Ricciardo and his Red Bull. I know they don't want to upset their 4 time champ, but RBR should have ordered Vettel to let him by to take 2nd.

Hamilton's charge away from the RB's after the safety car was pretty impressive. Faster car on better tires, I know, but still.

And yeah, the mental battle may have flipped towards Hamilton now.

So, my father-in-law has been "conditionally selected," along with quite a few other people, to participate with his car in the drivers' parade before the USGP in Austin this year. He has a 1932 Ford Roadster. He's going out the the track on the 18th of next month for them to look at his car, and for him to drive it around the track. I've already called shotgun if he gets picked to actually drive one of the drivers around the track pre-race!

Holy **** that would be incredible! Scratch that it's already incredible. That would be out of this world.

Yeah, I'm really hoping that he gets it, and that I can ride shotgun! I'll keep you all updated.

Oh, and we just got back from vacation, and my wife is talking about what we want to do in two years for my 40th bday trip. I hadn't really thought about it too much, but knowing how much I love the race at Spa, she suggested maybe going to Belgium and catching the race. It's been right around my bday for the last few years, so it would work out perfect.
