It was me that referred the Dutch girl and she ended up top twenty or top twenty five. All he had to do was pick up the phone and call and she would have gone to A&M. I still get pissed whenever I think about that.

I am not comparing Bobby K to Bollettieri at all, I am proving that you saying Bobby cannot be a good coach because he didnt play pro is a joke.

Bobby is not Nick Bollettieri. Thats obvious. However, your assumption that you must be a good player to be a good coach is not true. Does it help? Yes. Is it a must? No.

Please explain to me why you have so much tennis knowledge, where you get it from, what your tennis experience is.

Wait so in on post you say you dont' have to have played tennis or know much about it to be qualifed??? Then you ask me my qualifications which is Bigfoot? If you ever read Nick Bolletir's book he started teaching in a park after reading some books on tennis....So if I tell you that's all I have will that suffice?

If that is your tennis experience, thats fine, I just wanted to know what it was, what makes you a tennis expert. Did you play in college? Did you play pro? Are you a coach?

You said yourself:
quote:
I will say this Coach k cannot develop players...he played at WTAMU univ and had no pro experience...Which means he cannot attract the best players

So apparently you think that in order to coach this game successfully and to know anything about it, you must have played at the pro level. So what is your experience? Thats all I am asking.

JL, your arrogance comment is interesting. I remember after giving him the contact info his basic reaction to me was like I had some deadly communicable disease. After I was dismissed, I remember thinking that here I was giving him a contact for someone better than anyone playing for him and how he came across as just a total arrogant pr*ck. I understand he's generally considered a nice guy but my experience with him in the mid- 90s sure gave me a different (and permanately negative) impression of him. People can certainly change but arrogant was the one word I used to describe him after meeting him.

Now it's becoming clear why everyone hates him so much.

You all had players that Kleinecke wouldn't recruit. Stop being crybabies and move on.

(just trying to lighten the mood guys, so don't start grilling me on my tennis qualifications. All I've got to go on is showing up at just about every match, drawing conclusions from what I see, and a few encounters/conversations with the players and their families.)

That being said, it does seem to me that our girls aren't bad players. They all seem to have the same problem, which is that when they try to play aggressively, they all miss their shots by about 3 inches, over, and over, and over again. And our opponents know that, and take advantage of it.

Again, without knowing too much about it aside from my personal observations, it seems as though by the end of a season, with such a consistent problem amongst so many of our players, a decent coach would be able to correct it. Unless our girls are just uncoachable, who knows.

I think this is evidenced by someone like Sheri Olivier, who's great in doubles where the bigger court allows her to be more aggressive with hitting the angle shots. She has no problems keeping those balls in, but shrink the court a little, and all of a sudden her game seems to fall apart.

That's kinda what I meant about our girls being so close to being a good team, and by good team I meant top 20-25. Haven't really seen much improvement this season though, outside of Elze and Lauren.

You're right we do - at least I do- sound kind of whiney. Let's talk about something we can all agree about - The greatness of the Aggie Women's Track Team. There is a team of classy young women that is a true national power! whoop!
