Talladega!

Great Track, Great Race, Great Finish!

it looks like to me that you pretty much want to be in 2nd coming around that last corner and you pretty much know you are going to spin the guy in front of you out, that 2nd car goes faster then the one in front, and if you get blocked going high, you're still fast enough to get that nose in low like what happened to today. so basically first has gota hope that they are just fast enough or get spun out, big advantage to 2nd place unless they get caught up (sorta like the nationwide race yesterday).

thought it was funny when they interviewed JJ and his first words were: "it sucks to race here." I wonder if that was just the emotion or if it was just that everyone has a chance to win which is usually not the situation JJ finds himself in (where usually it is only him and a select few others that actually have a chance to win a race).

i know i swore off jr a few weeks ago but i admit i was pulling for him at the end.

The lap 7 wreck is proof why true NASCAR fans hate wrecks. I blame the special paint job, WHY would you copy a car that wrecked in the first half of the race back in ‘84????

There were three very scary hits in this race. In the first wreck, car #33 hit the wall in a way that before the safer barrier, the head restraint and new seats he would have died. The same could be said about Robbie Gordon and his contact with the inside wall in the second big wreck. Then the new catch fence catch the #99 car and returned the car to the track, just like it was designed to do. The best part of all three of was there was a live interview with the driver just minutes later.

I love the little two car break a way’s. That made for some really entertaining racing for everyone. Did you see the run that Kyle B & Jr had late in the race???? They were doing 202 mph going into turn 3 and was still going 195 coming out of three. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love Talladega!

Nascar has gotta look at the soft walls now at Talledega and Daytona. The wall comes out 4 or 5 feet and because of that you can now have an airborne car flip off that and catapult into the stands. Edwards car almost did it. Crazy scary wreck and the fact that Carl was able to get out and run to the finish line is a testament that the new car is incredibly safe for the driver.

The fact that his windshield had a big hole in it isn't good though.

quote:
TALLADEGA, Ala. (AP) — Seven fans sustained minor injuries after being struck by flying debris when Carl Edwards' car went airborne into the safety fence on the final lap of the Aaron's 499 at Talladega Superspeedway on Sunday.

Track medical director Bobby Lewis said none of the injuries was life-threatening but two women were airlifted to Birmingham hospitals. Lewis said one, who was taken to UAB Hospital, likely had a broken jaw and also had a cut on her mouth. The other was transported to Brookwood Hospital because of an unspecified medical condition but was not hurt.

Lewis said they were airlifted because of traffic, not the severity of the injuries.

Why the booing for Kyle Busch? What did he do that makes so many people hate him?

The way he's come across in post-race interviews in the past along with his driving style and the fact that he's winning so much now.

He has certainly grown-up but he still acts like a baby when he doesn't win. Nobody would care if he didn't win so much though.

The single greatest day in racing is this Sunday, 1100 miles of "going in circles" that I can't wait to watch.
