Brandon Rachal's strong freshman and sophomore basketball seasons caught the eye of several college coaches, and an impressive return to the football field this past fall has had coaches in that sport start following suit.
The multisport Natchitoches Central standout currently holds a slew of scholarship offers for his skills on the court, but may ultimately have even more options as recruiting interest in his ability as a wide receiver gains momentum.
"A lot of schools that have recruiting me for basketball are talking to me about coming there to play football and basketball now, because I had a pretty exceptional junior year for football," the 6-foot-5, 220-pound junior said. "So I'm starting to consider football, too, as an option, but I'm leaning more toward basketball."
Rachal sat out spring football at the tail end of his sophomore year to focus on basketball, where he has accumulated offers from LSU, Tulane, Louisiana Tech, Miami, Connecticut, Cal, Wake Forest, Kansas State, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Massachusetts, Boston College, Creighton, UTEP, Northwestern State and UNO.
He returned to the field for the Chiefs late in the summer, though, and used his impressive athleticism and instincts to overcome some initial rustiness before beginning to click on all cylinders by midseason.
