For everyone asking how much or why I would spend that much money on the first watch I posted. It came in from an estate and I probably will not keep it more than a month or so. I just thought it was a very interesting and fascinating watch. It's not every day that you get to have something like that around your wrist, even if it is only for a few weeks/months.

I can't do leather bands, I sweat too much and this is a dive watch. Went with the rubber one and it is perfect for me.

I've strongly considered liquidating my collection (keep my SMP and Sub) and getting a Black Bay and only rolling with 3 watches. But the bug will get me again as I love dive watches. I was close to getting a Marathon GSAR last year but went with a new carry gun (XDMc .45).

The GSAR is cool. I was considering that for my next watch.

One of the cleaner breitlings I have seen. They tend to be a little busy for my tastes.

That Black Bay is one of my favorites. I'm just too reliant on looking at my watch 50 times a day to remember what day it is to go with a no date watch for regular wear of any kind.

What is yall's opinion of this Tissot? I like the maroonish color. Is this a good watch?

Nice looking watch. If I was gonna spend a grand on a dive watch, the 2 I would be looking at have already been pictured and mentioned.

I'd look at the Seiko Shogun or the Marathon GSAR. You could also spend half that on a Seiko Sumo and get a watch that's just as nice as those 2 but a little blingier. I've got a Sumo, and it's a sweet watch.

The whole minute marker alignment issue with my SKX007 has kind of turned me off from the idea of spending a lot of money on a Seiko. I don't want to spend all that money and have that issue again. I'm OK with it on my $150 SKX007, but I've heard of higher end Seikos having similar issues.

What other dive watches would you recommend for around $1000?

Marathon oyster bracelet with plain clasp

A few 20mm nato straps

BERG-6767-F spring bar tool - You don't need this with the GSAR since it has lug holes, but your Seiko would need it as would many other watches as lug holes are becoming more rare. Also, if you get into watches, it will be a valuable tool. I learned the hard way by scratching the hell out of the back of my Omega trying to get my bracelet off with a small screwdriver. I bought this and had it off in less than a minute.

I'll be jealous as hell. I really want this watch, but I already have 3 black divers. I'd also suggest looking at WatchUSeek as they have a sub-forum for dive watches. You'll learn a lot there as well as see several micro brands that fall within a $1k budget.

We both have Tissot (T-RACE) and love them. They are not dive caliber though. His is automatic and mine is quartz.

Helson Shark Diver...I prefer 40mm watches over 42

Bathy's 100 Fathoms - This is a small boutique watch maker who will put a couple up from time to time. Your best bet is to search for a used one

Boschett Reef Ranger - Another boutique watch company with a great product and reputation

If you could go to $2k, I'd throw in Doxa and Sinn.

Mont Blanc or lately a wallet made by Simpleton leather goods in Oklahoma.
