Gary Blair on win at Georgia, looks ahead to Mississippi State
Notes from Gary Blair Interview
* Coach Blair calls in from Starkville where the Texas A&M Women's basketball team will be playing Mississippi State tonight. Blair talks about being able to visit former A&M Women's basketball coaching staff and players that have relocated to the Mississippi State coaching staff. He comments on the excitement of playing against friends and how much talent Texas A&M has provided to Mississippi State athletics.
* He states that on paper the Texas A&M Women's basketball team team may appear better on paper but paper does not win ball games. It is all about execution and giving the players the opportunity to play. He is going to treat Mississippi State as he would any other team in the SEC and focus on getting the win.
* He states that there was great success at Georgia because of a good defensive game plan and good ball movement. He recalls that when Kelsey Bone got into foul trouble Karla Gilbert came in and opened up the offense for the outside. States his players stepped up when they were needed. No player scored over 12 points but 5 players were around that mark and it helped put points on the board.
* States that the pressure is off of Adrienne Pratcher because she now has certainty in her starting position and this helps her game to flow. Blair states that Pratcher is putting up stats equivalent to those put up by Sydney Colson and Aquanesia Franklin and deserves more credit.
* Blair states that Courtney Williams and Courtney Walker are doing a good job replacing Sydney Carter and Sydney Colson and as they age will develop as players and personalities.
