Aggie Flashback with Bryan Davis

Notes from Bryan Davis Interview

* During his time under Coach Gillispie and Coach Turgeon, defense was always key and came first. The defense of the current team is getting much better and good defense leads to better offense.

* As a team, the players are out there really competing and putting a lot of effort towards becoming a better team as a whole. As time goes on, this team should get a lot better.

* Kourtney Roberson’s effort has always been good on the court. From working out with Roberson in the summer, he knows that when it comes down to be tough on the boards and finishing on the offensive end, Roberson always does his best to get the job done.

* When he arrived at A&M, an expectation to be good was already set prior to him and Donald Sloan coming in. The two of them would always talk about what they needed to do during the summer before they started to be ready to play their freshman season. Once he was on campus, the other players and coaches gave them a ton of support and confidence which allowed them to go out and perform to their highest ability.

* There was a belief with Acie Law that Law was always going to put A&M in a position to win the game. When you have a star like Law, and like the football team has with Johnny Manziel, the other players know how hard that person works to compete on that level.

* When he was in high school, choosing which college he was going to attend wasn’t focused on too much. His focus remained on graduating from high school and helping his high school team to be successful. Once the season ended, he still didn’t go too hard into the recruiting process, but A&M was always a place he wanted to attend.

* He misses playing in front of the 12th Man a lot. Since he plays around the world, he spends a lot of sleepless nights staying up to watch A&M football and basketball games. He misses A&M a ton, but it was definitely an honor to play for the Maroon and White.

* The Baylor rivalry in basketball was pretty good, possibly even better than the Texas rivalry. You knew how much each team didn’t like each other during those games. He remembers great moments in the Baylor rivalry like the five-overtime game and Sloan’s baptism.

* After leaving A&M he has played in Poland, Ukraine, China and is currently playing in South Korea.

* As a professional basketball player internationally, you spend about nine months of the year in two-a-day practices. It’s an interesting lifestyle and demands mental toughness, however, it’s something you love to do, so it isn’t too taxing.

* It’s hard to pick out the biggest game of his collegiate career because they were always taught to move on to the next one, but the win at Kansas sticks out at the top of the list.

great interview! Really liked bryan davis. One of my favorite memories of him was an in bound alley oop pass that went to him at the end of the 1st half. Some angry fan was video taped sticking his tongue at him. We eventually won a close one at Texas Tech.

Wish our team could find an Acie Law, Donald Sloan, or Bryan Davis.

BD always brought it. I miss the days of him and Jones and Big Chin. Davis always played hard, but sometimes you'd see something get called against Elonu and he would Hulk out from then on.

Bryan Davis brought the heat against Blake griffin when he was with Oklahoma. I'm sure Blake did not like those visits to aggieland. He is one of my favorite Aggie ballers of all time.
