Texas A&M defensive tackle Tyler Onyedim, a transfer who played a key role in the Aggies success in 2025, was selected by the Denver Broncos in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft on Friday.

Taken with the 66th pick, Onyedim is the eighth A&M defensive tackle drafted since 2019.

The list includes Shemar Turner in 2025 (second round by Chicago); McKinnley Jackson in 2024 (third round by Cincinnati); DeMarvin Leal in 2022 (third round by Pittsburgh); Bobby Brown III in 2021 (fourth round by the Los Angeles Rams); Justin Madubuike in 2020 (third round by Baltimore) and Kingsley Keke (fifth round by Green Bay) and Daylon Mack (fifth round by Baltimore) in 2019.

Onyedim was a three-star prospect out of Richmond Foster High School in 2021.

He went to Iowa State, where he made 21 starts, recorded 90 tackles, 21 tackles for loss and three sacks in three full seasons and a redshirt year.

Onyedim transferred to Texas A&M last season to help fortify a defensive front, which had lost three starters — Shemar Stewart, Shemar Turner and Nic Scourton — to the NFL.

Onyedim made an immediate impact for the Aggies. He posted 48 tackles, including 8.5 for lost yardage. He posted sacks vs. Texas and Miami and assisted on one vs. Auburn.

Perhaps his biggest play was in the third quarter vs. South Carolina when he got penetration and stopped Matt Fuller for no gain on fourth-and-1 at the A&M 30-yard line.

That play helped shift momentum as the Aggies rallied from a 30-3 halftime deficit for a 31-30 victory.

Onyedim made a wise decision to portal here. It paid off for him. He will be a good pro.

Wonder how they will use him. I've long said Onyedim looks like a SDE with elite interior pass rush potential. He's definitely not a three-down DT, in the NFL, IMO. He's too light, relies almost entirely on hands and quicks, and guesses A LOT.
