Around Aggieland (5/5)

On Monday’s edition of TexAgs Live, Kaylee Dreyer took us Around Aggieland with updates after Aggie baseball and softball both took down No. 2. Plus, updates on Aggie women's and men's tennis, as both are heading to a Sweet 16.

Baseball
Texas A&M baseball split the doubleheader with No. 2 LSU on Saturday, winning Game 1, 3-1, and dropping Game 2, 2-1. Ben Royo led the offense in these games, hitting 3-for-7 in the doubleheader with one home run.

Caden Sorrell was the leader in Game 3, hitting the game with a three-run homer in the eighth inning to push the Aggies to a 6-4 win, which marked the Aggies’ third victory this season over a top-two ranked team.

Softball
The Texas A&M softball team earned the No. 2 seed and a double bye in the SEC Tournament after taking two of three from No. 2 Tennessee on the road. Emiley Kennedy had a great weekend, going 2-0 and getting drafted by the Bandits as the seventh overall pick. The Aggies finished in second place in the SEC with a 17-6 record, which is the highest finish in program history.

Texas A&M is slated to play its first game on Thursday, May 8. 

Women’s Tennis
The No. 2 Texas A&M women's tennis team took down UC Santa Barbara 4-1 on Saturday in the second round of the NCAA Tournament after beating Quinnipiac 4-0 in the first round. Next up, they will face UCLA in the Super Regionals on Friday at Mitchell Tennis Center.

Men’s Tennis
The Aggies pushed past Rice with a 4-2 win in the first round and are now moving on to the Sweet 16 after a tough 4-3 win vs Baylor yesterday in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Track & Field
Heather Abadie broke her own pole vault school record Saturday at the Alumni Muster meet with a career-best performance, clearing 4.41m, which puts her in the top 10 of the school’s record books.
