For the second season in a row, Texas A&M volleyball is on its way to the NCAA Tournament.

During Sunday’s NCAA Selection Show, it was announced that the No. 6-seeded Aggies are heading to Tempe, Arizona to take on Colorado State in the first round of the tournament, which begins on Thursday, Dec. 5.

The Aggies will face the Rams on Friday at 6:30 p.m. CT.

This will be the ninth meeting between the Aggies and Rams, with Colorado State holding a 3-6 advantage.

Head coach Jamie Morrison and his Aggies are tournament-bound for the second time in as many years under his leadership, and after they fell to eventual national champion Texas in last December’s first round, the Aggies are looking to go much further this postseason.

A&M ended the 2024 regular season with an overall record of 19-7 and an SEC record of 10-6, marking an improvement from last year’s 16-13 and 8-10 marks.

The Aggies began 2024 on fire with an 8-0 start, and the team entered conference play with a 9-1 record. The SEC slate was a streaky experience for A&M. The Aggies began it with a 3-1 loss to the Longhorns, but then won three straight. A&M had three separate winning streaks of at least three matches during SEC play, as well as two separate losing streaks of at least two games.

A&M’s resume features two wins against ranked teams in 2024, but no win this season was as big as the Ags’ 3-2 win over the Longhorns in Austin on Oct. 23. It was a signature victory for Morrison & Co. that showcased the grit and toughness he wants to instill within the program.

A&M also brings plenty of momentum into the NCAA Tournament as the Ags ended the regular season on a four-game win streak.

Now, we’ll see if the Aggies can make a deep postseason run as they chase the program’s first-ever national title.
