Currently sitting at 9-6 in the conference and 18-7 overall, Texas A&M's postseason position sits at a great spot as the Maroon & White conclude the regular season on Saturday against South Carolina. Jamie Morrison joined TexAgs Live on Wednesday to discuss his Aggies.

Key notes from Jamie Morrison interview

  • I thought we were playing good volleyball for a good little stretch, and I was disappointed that our team wasn’t seeing the result of getting wins. I talked to our team about responses. In the first set against Georgia, we lost. We responded and played three good sets. Against LSU, we went up 2-0. LSU pushed, and our response in the fourth was to go back to playing the volleyball we were playing. That is good enough to beat a lot of teams.

  • I think we are playing our best volleyball of the year at the right time. That's an exciting thing.

  • We talk a lot about what happens upstairs, in our minds, the way we go about the day. Sometimes, you don’t start off playing well. You have to find a way to work around it. Every group is different. You figure out yours.

  • We talk about pregame routines and "finding your five." As human beings, we have different levels of activation. One would be, “I just woke up. I haven't had a cup of coffee, and I'm groggy.” You will not perform well. A 10 would be having 15 cups, and you are shaking, nervous and won't perform well. It is something between that where you feel the pressure of this moment, but you are able to manage it as your five. You should evaluate yourself up to that five, and maybe you get to a six or seven and have to take a break and bring yourself back. You dont want to come in as one.

  • It's unbelievable my second season is coming to a close. I still remember the first time I stepped in here. Now, it feels like a second home. It blows my mind that season two is almost over.

  • I think we have created a really cool game experience and brand around our program. I will give shoutouts to Sam Thornton, Ashley Fowler, Chris Bieschke and plenty of others. They have brought this vision to life. Our players and staff have worked really hard to ensure we are playing volleyball at the highest possible level.

  • We talk a lot about consistency being the No. 1 thing great teams have. Making every single practice similar and every single match pretty similar. You can count on that when you get into pressure situations. You need that in the NCAA Tournament when things are tested. When it’s win or go home. When you trust the game you have, it's good enough to win.

  • The NCAA Tournament Selection Show will air on ESPN at 5 p.m. on Sunday. For the first time, ESPN is conducting a bracket challenge similar to the men's and women's basketball tournaments. Tune in to ESPN at 5 p.m. on Sunday. We will be together as a team figuring out where we will go or, fingers crossed, we possibly host. Then we will get to work on Monday.

  • Nationally, the sport is growing exponentially. Someone asked me where the Final Four is. I said it's in Louisville, with only 15,000 seats. If you looked back 10 years ago, that would have been crazy. I looked it up. It's 21,000 and already sold out.

  • You can see attendance growth here, and there is still room to grow. I love that I have so many people saying, "I have never been to a volleyball game. That is the most fun I have had at a sporting event.” I have heard that 5-10 times. This community is starting to fall in love with our girls, the game and the way we play it. That makes me extremely happy inside.
