Aggies venture to Norman this week needing to end three-match slide

The Aggies are searching for a momentum shift.

After a 3-1 loss to Tennessee in Knoxville on Sunday, Texas A&M volleyball has found itself on a three-game losing streak.

With just four games remaining in the regular season, the Aggies are in desperate need of a win and renewed momentum with the NCAA Tournament quickly approaching.

The Ags will have the opportunity to end their current slide when they face the Oklahoma Sooners in Norman on Wednesday, Nov. 13.

Wednesday will represent the end of what has been a perilous three-game road swing. However, this three-game skid began before A&M left Aggieland on the wrong end of a sweep vs. Mississippi State on Nov. 3.

To make matters worse, the Aggies have lost nine of their last ten sets. The Maroon & White have also had at least one set in each of their last three matches where they did not reach the 20-point mark.

While the Ags are 15-7 overall, this current slide now has them at 6-6 in SEC play. Their struggles against conference opponents are similar to how they performed the previous season in that regard, as A&M was 8-10 last year against SEC foes.

This current slide for A&M is also reminiscent of 2023’s ending, as the Ags lost eight of their final 10 regular season games. Jamie Morrison’s debut season came to an abrupt end when the Aggies fell to eventual national champion Texas in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

However, this season, A&M proved it can beat the Longhorns and other top-25 opponents.

Truly, the Ags are capable of beating any opponent on any given day. They just need momentum.

Momentum is crucial, and with only four matches remaining before the postseason begins, the Maroon & White must find a spark.

Oklahoma hasn’t been much better in its first year in the SEC.

The Sooners are 12-8 overall with a 6-6 SEC record, and they’re 2-3 at home. But now, Oklahoma has found life, having won three straight and four of its last five games.

It won’t be an easy task for A&M, but the Aggies are desperate for a win.

Whether that desperation will translate to the court on will be seen in Norman on Wednesday evening.
