Southeastern Conference play has arrived for Aggie soccer, with a clash vs. Auburn on deck, followed by a meeting at Texas on Sunday. On Wednesday's edition of TexAgs Radio, coach G Guerrieri discusses his team and upcoming matchups against conference foes.

Key notes from G Guerrieri interview

  • That can be the way our game goes, up and down. In football, if you get 600 yards, you will cross the goal line a couple of times. We did a lot of really good things and hit the goalkeeper several times.

  • We had a couple of brain farts that went against us. They scored on both of their chances. You have to give Oklahoma credit. They did the things they needed to do. They kept us on the porch without getting through the door. Besides that, we played well.

  • We did the things that we wanted to do. We made a couple of fatal errors. That is something we have to clean up. We keep getting better at many things that are hard to get better at. Our midfield play was better than it has been in other games.

  • In Missouri, we knew it would be a street fight, and we won it. That was a big road win.

  • We have two more huge games this week against nationally-ranked teams. We see them as opportunities to put ourselves in a great place for our season.

  • We have Auburn coming in tomorrow night. Reveille will be there. It is an opportunity for us to get a big win. This is the best Auburn team we have seen since we have been in the league. It is a team that we are familiar with and match up well with. We will play them on our home soil in front of the 12th Man. We need the 12th Man to be out there and help us out.

  • On Sunday, we play another team we are familiar with, Texas. We know those players very well since they played against or with all of our girls growing up. We haven't played them in a long time. Out of the last five times we have played them, four of them have been in Austin. The only time they have come to College Station was during the NCAA Tournament. They are very talented and good. They are one of the favorites in our league.

  • It's soccer. On Sunday, we did a lot of good things. We hit their goalkeeper a few times, and she made a couple of huge saves. It's the way the game goes.

  • The 500th win last week shows that all of these experiences are in our favor. Let us show all the things that we have learned when we can put the ball on Sydney Becerra's feet. Let us show what we can do when we have our great players on the ball and are the aggressors. When we let great athletes be in charge, the game tends to go in their favor.

  • It should be a very entertaining game on Thursday night. We hope folks will come out. It will be an SEC game all the way around, so it should be really fun to watch.

  • Turn It Gold is our cause that we do in the fall, and baseball does it in the spring. We have been able to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars to help wipe out childhood cancer. The Turn It Gold Foundation is started by Aggie moms. One hundred percent of the money goes towards the cause. It is a wonderful cause, and we are so happy to be associated with them. I am proud of my young women for being involved in it. Thank you to everyone who was associated and donated this past weekend. It was another huge success.
