The Maroon & White just had the perfect weekend.

On Sunday, Texas A&M volleyball wrapped up the Texas A&M Invitational with a sweep of Louisiana (25-14, 25-18, 25-16). It was the Aggies’ second sweep of the weekend and their fifth in seven games this year.

Indeed, the Maroon & White had a perfect weekend and remain perfect on the year. At 7-0, Jamie Morrison’s Aggies are the last unbeaten in the Southeastern Conference, with league play slated to begin in two weeks' time.

The leadoff set in Sunday's matchup was dominance per usual. The Aggies crushed the Ragin’ Cajuns 25-14. Getting off to a hot start has been a key component to the team’s success, as A&M won all three first sets in this weekend’s tournament.

The Ags were up by as many as 10 in the first, with junior outside hitter Emily Hellmuth leading the way with four kills and 4.5 points. A&M was getting it done on both sides of the net as well, as the Ags totaled five blocks and a .314 hitting percentage.

The second wasn’t as much of a dominant performance for the Aggies, as it was a much more evenly matched affair. The score was knotted multiple times throughout, including at 12-12 and 15-15.

For the second consecutive season, Texas A&M has started 7-0.

However, A&M did what it does best.

After the 15-15 deadlock, the team went on a 10-3 run to close out the set for a 25-18 victory.

“I think different teams are going to push you in different ways,” Morrison said. “We’ve found different ways to win.”

Set three had a very similar flow to the second, as it was another tough battle.

It was 15-14 at one point, with Louisiana doing all it could to salvage the set, but just like the second set, the Aggies pulled away.

A&M scored 10 of the set’s last 12 points to win 25-16 and seal the 3-0 sweep.

“I think we had a lot of learning moments throughout the weekend,” junior defensive specialist Ava Underwood said. “I think we found different ways to win, which I think was really big time for us, and I feel really confident in what we learned.”

Instrumental to the Aggies’ win was junior opposite Logan Lednicky, who led the way with 15 kills, 24 total attacks, and seven total blocks.

The work doesn’t stop for A&M, as the Aggies head to Cedar Falls, Iowa, to take on Northern Iowa on Thursday at 6:00 p.m. CT.

After that, they’ll head to Madison, Wisconsin, for a pair of matches against nationally-ranked Wisconsin and Troy.

“Huge morale boost,” Underwood said. “I think we’re feeling really good as a team, vibe is good… We’re pumped.”
