It also means prospects are wrapping up their decisions and making announcement plans, and SEC programs are right in the middle of it. Headlines

LSU adds key pieces – The Bayou Bengals have been on a recruiting hot streak. Not only did they flip Phillips from Texas, but they flipped Destrehan (LA) WR Phillip Wright‍ from Michigan, tapped into DFW for DL Dilan Battle‍, and they added a second tight end in Mike Tyler‍ out of Columbia (SC).

DL Christian Garrett‍ decommits from Georgia – The Bulldogs are once again putting together one of the top classes in the country, but they are not immune to departures either. Garrett, out of Bogart (GA) Prince Avenue Christian just outside of Athens, committed to UGA in June over Clemson, Georgia Tech and Tennessee, but he recently reopened his recruitment.

WR Jerome Myles‍ sets decision date – The Draper (UT) Corner Canyon standout announced a top 10 featuring SEC programs Texas A&M, Georgia, Auburn and LSU, along with Utah, Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, USC and Miami in August. Now, he has announced a decision date with his sights set on Oct. 30.

New Name to Know

LB Ashton Moore‍, Brandon (MS) – 2026

A jack of all trades. At 6-foot-1 and 195 pounds, Moore is a downhill striker with a nose for the ball. He is full-go all the time. He is quick to read, quick to react and quick to detonate.

A student of the game, he studies LB Fred Warner, CB Jalen Ramsey and DE Maxx Crosby, and as a sophomore at Alpharetta (GA) in 2023, he showed himself to be a playmaker at all three levels of the defense. Inside, outside, on the edge or in the box, his vision and IQ were on display.

He’s now at Brandon (MS), preparing for his junior year, and college coaches are quickly learning of his talents. This spring and summer, he visited Texas A&M, Texas, UCF, UAB and Arkansas, and SEC offers have arrived from Texas A&M, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Texas, Missouri and Mississippi State. Most recently, Michigan joined his growing offer list, and his other power four offers include Indiana, UCF and Wake Forest. Offers have also arrived from Florida A&M, Coastal Carolina, Georgia State, UAB, FAU and Austin Peay.

As a sophomore, Moore earned second-team all-region honors after recording 87 tackles, 37 tackles-for-loss and nine sacks, and as he prepared for his junior season at Brandon, he worked at CB, S and LB on the 7-on-7 circuit.
