QB Conner Weigman feels himself 'getting there' through spring reps

Texas A&M quarterback Conner Weigman has been going through spring drills and will be on Kyle Field on Saturday afternoon for the 2024 edition of the Maroon & White Game. In an exclusive interview, Weigman spoke about A&M's spring slate, continuing to improve & more.

• Yeah, I will be out there at the Maroon & White Game, getting game reps and getting better.
   
• Spring practice has been really good. Being out there has been good for me, even though I have to be put in awkward positions and use my foot. We are getting there. It started out rough, not being able to move around. The scar tissue is breaking up, and I am moving around. We are getting there.
   
• Practicing has been huge. You can't get better without playing real football. Being out there has helped me a lot, along with learning the new offense. Learning what Collin Klein likes in different situations in the game.
   
• Coach Klein is always positive, even when bad things happen. He will tell you why things went wrong. It has been really good to build a relationship with him.
   
• Coach Mike Elko is a great coach. He harps on every little detail. No stone goes unturned. The discipline he has instilled into our team, it has been awesome to see.
   
• We have two defensive ends that we can't keep away from me in Shemar Stewart and Nic Scourton. They are first-round guys. They are freakish dudes. It is not fun when they are going against me. The secondary, they are long, rangy, athletic guys. They make it difficult out there.
   
• Trey Zuhn III is an awesome dude all around. He comes to work with a smile on his face. Each day, it's the same Trey. He is so dependable, and that is why he is a captain.
   
• Bryce Anderson changed from nickel to safety. He told me in the spring that I couldn't hide from him anymore. I pick his brain on the stuff he sees. We have a really good relationship going.
   
• I was rooting for Max Homa at the Masters, but Scottie Scheffler is a good dude.
   
• For me, the way I think about it, you do have a choice. You either get it done or don't. I will get it done with me. That is the mindset I have throughout the game.
   
• Ever since I got hurt, I have been ready. I am ready to go change the narrative. Go play and go do what I was supposed to last season.
   
• It's been fun to watch baseball. I turn the game on every time. I try to keep Jace LaViolette humble. If they keep doing what they are doing, nobody can stop them. They can only stop themselves.
   
• LaViolette did get drafted, and he came here instead. The consistency of it is what inspires me the most about LaViolette.
   
• Coach Jim Schlossnagle and I have a good relationship. My freshman year, he would text me, and he still does. He doesn't have to do that. I don't regret how any of it went down. To have that relationship with him is really cool.
   
• Everyone wants to win. We have to put in the work to get there, especially in the SEC. You have to earn everything. We are coming a long way with that.
   
• My plans for this summer? Working out. It's time to go.
