Texas A&M adds former Florida LB Scooby Williams via transfer portal
The Aggies have added another linebacker out of the transfer portal today after receiving a verbal commitment from former Florida standout Scooby Williams.
Taking a redshirt in the 2021 season, the 6-foot-2, 230-pounder is a native of Birmingham, Alabama, and comes to College Station with two years of eligibility remaining.
In his time in Gainesville, Williams tallied 69 tackles. He began his career as more of an edge rusher before moving to an off-the-ball linebacker spot which resulted in much more productivity. This past season was his best for the Gators as he logged 52 total tackles, one sack and forced a pair of fumbles.
New Texas A&M defensive coordinator Jay Bateman will be very familiar with Williams as he was Williams’ position coach at Florida.
A top 75 national recruit coming out of high school, William becomes the 13th portal addition for Mike Elko in the Maroon & White.
