Former Texas A&M linebacker Sean Porter previews his expectations for 2023

Former Texas A&M and NFL linebacker Sean Porter joined Friday's edition of TexAgs Radio to reflect on his time in the Maroon & White playing alongside Johnny Football. Porter also discussed the issues last year that could be resolved in 2023.

• I am excited. We bring back Ainias Smith and Evan Stewart. I love Conner Weigman and the fire he brings. Defensively, we have potential over there. We have potential at linebacker and an All-Conference player in Demani Richardson. We should make some noise.
   
• I would not say any questions have been answered for me. I would like to see it in the real games.
   
• I couldn't pinpoint the issue with that run defense, but it's fixable. It's a schematic thing. I think we can clean that up. It's probably a studying thing, and they need to focus in. 
   
• It's a huge adjustment coming from high school to Texas A&M. You have to learn how to play a new game. Step up with the big boys, and get it done.
   
• My freshman year, I kind of knew the struggle was coming, and the next years, we were building up. My junior year, we had a really good team. Going into 2012, I knew what was coming. I knew we were good. The senior class was big. We added special players like Johnny Manziel and Mike Evans. We had a really loaded team. 
   
• I thought we were very talented in 2011. Sometimes, the ball does not roll your way. I hope we can get the lucky couple plays to bounce the way we did not get last year. I hope everyone is on their p's and q's.
   
• They are most vulnerable in stopping the run. If you can't run the ball or stop the run, you can't do anything else. 
   
• Demani Richardson is extremely important. He would have been a third-round NFL Draft pick if he would have gone. He leads. You need that piece that knows what is going on. That helps out a lot.
   
• Ainias Smith could play defense if he wanted to. These kids are very talented these days.
   
• Defense is a collection for the most part. The most important player is the one who makes the most plays. My favorite player to watch last year was Bryce Anderson. He brings a lot to the table. He has passion. 
   
• "Untold: Johnny Football" was great. I thought it would be worse. He got to step out and tell his story to the world. We have defended that for years. It was important for him to tell that. Especially with NIL now, what Johnny did now was very minimal compared to what the kids are doing today.
   
• Johnny was a great teammate. I have known Johnny since we were in high school and played against each other. He gravitated toward me because we were San Antonio guys. The kid was outstanding. He was one of the best college football players to ever live. He cared about the team and cared about winning.
   
• Johnny Football was a Texas High School legend. I knew that already. In spring ball, he was tearing it up. He was loose. He was relaxed. It was amazing playing with Johnny at quarterback.
