Texas A&M football enters 2023 ranked No. 23 in preseason AP Poll

Only 19 days away. Back inside the top 25.

On Monday, the Associated Press released its 2023 preseason top-25 poll, and Jimbo Fisher’s Fightin’ Texas Aggies came in at No. 23 in the initial rankings.

Appearing in the preseason poll might come as a surprise to some, considering Texas A&M finished 2022 with a disappointing 5-7 record after opening the year with a preseason No. 6 ranking.

However, even after enduring the program’s first losing season since 2009 (6-7), Fisher & Co. have accumulated enough talent on this year’s roster to generate at least some excitement from the national media.

Texas A&M is one of six Southeastern Conference programs to appear in the initial poll as Georgia (No. 1), Alabama (No. 4), Louisiana State (No. 5), Tennessee (No. 12) and Ole Miss (No. 22) are also ranked.

In addition to being ranked 23rd by the AP, the Aggies are also ranked No. 25 in the USA Today Coaches Poll.

Fisher and the Aggies open the much-anticipated campaign on Sept. 2 when they host New Mexico at Kyle Field.
