this was his take LAST YEAR (2022):

"In the SEC I rank Alabama the best, Georgia second-best and then clearly No. 3 to me is Texas A&M," Steele said. "All you have to do is look at what Jimbo Fisher has been doing recruiting-wise, I get to talk to coach Fisher each year and going through the team with him and getting that second and third team, wow this team is talented. But I'll tell you what, when I hung up the phone with coach Fisher this year I was like, 'Wow, this is going to be a great team next year.' I think next year when all this inexperience that they have, I mean they lost all four starting defensive linemen, they lost a good portion of their linebackers, the secondary, a lot of the units when I was talking to coach Fisher he would sell them up and say, 'Well, we're inexperienced but we're going to be really, really, really good next year,' and it seemed like almost every position was wrapped up that way. I think this is an A&M team that is poised for a potential title next year, but let's try to keep some of that in the bag for this year. We'll talk about this year's team.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me every single year since 1999.....

I agree, though. THIS year is finally next year.

I am expecting a floor of 8-4 and a ceiling of 11-1 this season. Tennessee will likely be our toughest game because we have a shortened travel week after a grueling home game against Alabama on 10/7, and Tennessee will be coming off a bye week. I won't be surprised if we beat Alabama and lose to Tennessee. I can also see us heading into Baton Rouge 10-1 with only a loss to Tennessee and playing LSU for the SEC West division title. Hopefully, we can finish at least 9-3 with an opportunity for a 10th win in the bowl game.

Pick 'em good: "He's an idiot."

Pick 'em bad: "He hates A&M."
