Hicks — who often goes by “DJ” — had a top seven that included the Aggies along with Texas, Oklahoma, Michigan State, Alabama, Miami and Oregon. However, this one ultimately came down to the Aggies and Sooners.
The son of a coach, Hicks grew up in greater Houston and began his high school career at Morton Ranch before heading north to the Metroplex as a junior when his dad got a job at Allen. After a year, Hicks was back in the Bayou City when his dad was hired at Katy Paetow.
Regardless of where he has resided, Hicks has been a top-flight, five-star prospect throughout his recruitment.
At 6-foot-4, 270 pounds, “DJ” plays with incredible quickness and raw power on the defensive interior. He has elite hand strength that shows up in both engaging blockers and making tackles. His raw athletic traits combined with his great feel for the game allows him to play in a variety of spots across the defensive line. Wherever he lines up, Hicks is a game wrecker.
You can view his highlights below.
Hicks becomes the 12th commit of the class and the second defensive lineman in the group, joining Atascocita DT Samu Taumanupepe.
Stay tuned. We’ll have more soon for our TexAgs Premium subscribers.
