Former A&M QB Trevor Knight dissects the Aggies' offense in 2022

Former Texas A&M quarterback Trevor Knight joined Wednesday's edition of TexAgs Radio to analyze the ongoing quarterback battle and the offensive playmakers this year. He also discussed his overall expectations for the Maroon & White in 2022.

• I’m doing well. TexAgs is near and dear to my heart. Life is great. I’m in northern Dallas and had a baby boy. All is well in my world. College football is right around the corner.
   
• Not playing in the bowl game last year hurts. It's an opportunity to cap off the year. It was a big recruiting year. A&M has big pieces of the puzzle coming back and some are unknown. The quarterback is in the spotlight, and we’ll see who takes that job over. 
   
• The quarterback room is an interesting room. One guy with a lot of experience, one with some, and one with none. You have three guys that can get out there right now and put the ball in the endzone. All of these guys have the qualities to do that. Max Johnson lives and breathes football and has experience. Haynes King had the injury and has to put that behind him. Conner Weigman reminds me of a guy that wore #2 at A&M. Is he there yet in terms of maturity? We don’t know yet. It could go any which way. It's a true three-man race.
   
• Let’s push the ball and open it up. That is what college football has come to. I have all the confidence. Go out there and make the plays. You're going to see some explosive plays on offense this year.
   
• Devon Achane reminds me of Cryus Gray or Treyveon Williams. They come in as a younger guys and are productive and build on that. He understands how to get the football in the endzone. It’s going to be fun to watch him run up and down Kyle Field every Saturday.
   
• Alabama is a rivalry. A&M has shown they can beat Alabama. The Tide is the top dog in college football. They are circled on everyone’s schedule. It is a rivalry game. I’m excited for that one. There will be so much energy in that stadium. There will be a lot of trash talk which makes college football fun. You can't go out there thinking of David and Goliath. To beat a team like that, you have to play your best football.
   
• With all the bulletin board talk, there’s something to be said about 18-22 men, the testosterone, you give the umph and that means a little more. The opportunity for the coaches is how to harness that energy to go out there and be productive. They have to have that focused energy.
   
• Start off the schedule strong. I remember at Oklahoma, we had Tennessee scheduled early. That was a game you put on your big boy pants on, and it was time to go. When you're battling injuries later in the season, it is difficult. The double overtime College Gameday game at A&M against Tennessee, those things put you through the gauntlet early.
   
• There are some question marks in the SEC West, especially at Ole Miss. They are creating an interesting culture there, but it works. Alabama, they are who they are. Arkansas is interesting. They have a really good quarterback. That’s a “Put up or shut up” game. You have a rough taste in your mouth because of last season. It’s going to be a dog fight from beginning to end.
   
• Oklahoma is a top-10 team. Brent Venables brings two things. A culture that is proven and it permeates through a coaching staff. Secondly, the dark spot for Oklahoma has been their defense. Brent is one of the best defensive minds in college football. That makes them a top-10 team. Dillon Gabriel has put up numbers over the past couple years. Oklahoma’s schedule is easier.
