Texas A&M starting pitcher Micah Dallas launches NFT

The originator of the Pringles tradition in the dugout, Texas A&M starting pitcher Micah Dallas joined Monday's edition of TexAgs Radio to discuss his upcoming NFT drop, NIL's impact on college baseball and the Aggies' season turnaround.

Key notes from Micah Dallas interview

  • I dropped an NFT. The first one is going to be free, and we just wanted to give back to the community and the 12th Man for all of the support you have given me. It will come with some perks, and for the gold drop, you'll have a chance to get some tickets to the Mississippi State series, a signed baseball and more. It's essentially an online trading card. There's a community of people who love it.

  • NIL has been huge for baseball, especially with the scholarship caps. It's leveling the playing field for baseball. People have an opportunity to pay for rent and school now. It's giving back to the athletes, and it's huge for baseball.

  • Coming out of high school, as a 17-year-old, you're thinking about going to the draft or school. It's a tough decision. If I knew NIL was a thing, it would have been a quick and easy decision to play college baseball. I will be forever thankful for going to college. Absolutely.

  • I had a lot of knowledge about the culture at Texas A&M before coming here. I knew a lot, but then I got in contact with the coaching staff. Once I got on campus, it was instant. I knew I was coming here.

  • Jim Schlossnagle is easy to talk to, and he's open and honest about everything. That's best for everybody. He expects perfection out of us, and if he sees anything less, he's going to say something.

  • Everyone wrote us off at the beginning of the season, and right now, we're proving a lot of right people right. That's all because of the staff.

  • I'm a true believer in the idea that you play better if you're around guys you like. We hang out all the time, away from the field. It's a little goofy, but it's a lot of fun.

  • Anybody in the country will have a hard time hitting Nathan Dettmer when he's on. He has another year of college baseball after this. It's really fun to watch, and this program is in good hands for a long time.

  • Working with Nate Yeskie has impacted everything, whether it's baseball or life. You go to him. Baseball-wise, I've taken away the idea of enjoying the ride. If the chips don't fall where you want, you can look in the mirror and know you've done your best. Yeskie is a magic man.

  • I stick to my routine when things are going good, and I stick to it when things are going back. I'm a confident guy, and there is no doubt in my mind that I'll get back to where I need to. It comes back around, and there are a lot of guys that have been talking to me. It makes me feel better. I don't really consider this a struggle, but sometimes, it's bad baseball. I still hold myself to a higher standard.

  • I'm not surprised by our success at all. At the beginning of the year, we were ranked 60th, and Dettmer posted a tweet that said, "Good." We all knew what we had in the fall. We knew we were overlooked, but right now, you're seeing people open their eyes.

  • We just wanted to play for each other. We are not going to go down soft. The bats were extremely gritty. Our pitchers picked each other up, and we're playing for each other. That's who this team is.

I don't understand...What is the digital asset that is being sold? All I see are physical objects (signed baseballs, etc.) and getting to meet Micah Dallas.

He's giving this one away. It's basically a digital trading card.
