During Tuesday's edition of TexAgs Radio, hall of fame Track & Field head coach Pat Henry joined to share his thoughts on last weekend's Texas Relays in Austin and this weekend's upcoming duel meet with the Longhorns in Aggieland.

Key notes from Pat Henry interview

  • The Texas Relays was a good, productive meet for us. We had a lot of great things happen for us. It's not the most hospitable atmosphere for us, but our athletes competed very well. They just do the typical Texas stuff. It's just a different situation than most places you go into, but it's not worth going into. Our kids did well there.

  • Anytime your wind rating is above a 2.0, it is not a "legal" record mark, but the mark counts in the NCAA for qualifications moving on to regional championships. If it's above a 4.0, then it doesn't count for anything. For record purposes, we don't count anything that is a wind reading above 2.0. Devon Achane ran a 10.2, but it was a 2.5 wind reading. That would have been within the top few times in Texas A&M history.

  • Bryce Foster looked OK. He won the "B" division shot put. When you're competing against 120 institutions, they have to split it up into two divisions. He's a freshman, so he was in the "B" division. He won it, which means he'll keep moving on and moving up. He threw just under 60 feet, which is great. He's starting to get into a rhythm, and his big throws are still ahead of him.

  • It was a collegiate record for us in the women's sprint medley relay. The women did a great job. It came down to the last few meters, but the group did a great job. I cannot tell you how many times we've run that relay, and for that to be the best mark ever is a huge accomplishment for that group of people.

  • Lamara Distin jumped 6-5. She set a Texas Relays record and a stadium record. That's a world-leading time right now. She's doing a tremendous job, and he's exciting to watch. It's fun to watch Lamara jump.

  • We have a duel with Texas in College Station this weekend. They have a good team on both sides, so that will be a great challenge for us. This is what a duel meet is all about. You can enter as many as you want, but only two on each team can score. That's the kind of competition we will run this weekend.

  • I certainly wish Buzz Williams and his group the best tonight, and we look forward to watching them
