Post-game quotes

Head Coach Gary Blair
"That was just a good basketball game to watch because the kids were getting after it. All of a sudden I have size for the first time and eventually it pays off. My 5 position produced 18 rebounds and 17 points tonight; that was a big difference. We’re going to work. You can see we’re not the team we were last year, but we’re a work in progress."

On Sydney Carter’s play…
"Carter did an excellent job. She wasn’t getting beat back door and if she did get beat, (Adaora) Elonu was rotating over to give her some help and we were blocking some shots."

On A&M’s advantage in points off turnovers…
"It’s what we have to do. We’re having to pound it (inside) more and we’re having to become more physical. I’m more pleased with 29 percent (Tech’s shooting percentage)."

On what A&M changed at the half…
"We changed a little bit of what we were doing offensively and we started getting through the screens (in the second half)."

On if this was a special trip (being his last in the Big 12 to Lubbock)…
"It's memories. Ya’ll have a lot to be proud of. I have a lot to be proud of because I’m a Red Raider. I’ll be back whether there is a ball game or not. Folks, eventually I’ll see you again. I love coming back here. Give Kristy (Curry) credit for what she’s doing here at Tech. Across the country, she’s well respected."

Guard Sydney Carter
On A&M’s defense…
"I think we just got back to our old ways. I really needed to pick it up and show everyone my defense hasn’t gone anywhere this year. I needed to pressure (Tech’s Monique) Smalls on the ball and help my teammates out more. We had an all-around defensive effort today."

On her defensive effort on Tech’s Monique Smalls…
"I feel like I’m making my comeback. Coach Blair said to me today that it was time for me to step up and be great. It was about time for a senior to answer the call. Coach Schaefer has stayed on me in practice saying, “Carter’s not going to give up any more dribble penetration this year”. That was my focus today, to make sure she wasn’t getting those baskets she likes, going to the rim, and if she was going to make baskets today, she was going to have to make jump shots. I pressured her and did a good job."

Forward Adaora Elonu
On four A&M players in double figures…
It’s good for us because we know teams can’t just focus on one player. And if we all show up and play like we did, we’ll come up with games like this. Coach Blair said before if we all have a solid, balanced game, we’ll win 90 percent of the games.

On the physicality of the game…
We knew they were going to be physical, but we like to play physical as well, so it’s nothing we were surprised at. We just accepted the challenge and played with them.

Special thanks to Mac Resource Computers for their sponsorship of all women's basketball content produced throughout the season at TexAgs.com! Once again this season, all WBB content will be available free ... so feel free to pass around any of our women's hoops stuff to your friends.

I obviously didn't see a second of this game so I don't feel really good about offering my in the way of analysis...especially at the end of a crazy and long day like today. But I did want to get you the quotes and notes that the media relations department sent me. So here you go!

When they didn't give the final score at the men's game I thought uh oh. But Dave South gave the score at end of his broadcast so I was relieved since Blair was 3 out of eight in Lubbock, and 3 of those losses are years we wne to the NCAA tournament. Just watched some of the replay. What were the tech fans saying when Lexi had the ball? It sounded like "airball" because she had one when the shot clock ran down. But way to go Lexi to put that aside.

I watched the replay on ESPN3.com of the first half in the wee early hours not fully awake...seemed kind of sloppy to me...but a 3 point lead in Lubbock with their big crowd was good...I'll watch the second half tonight and celebrate the win again!

Just got through watching the replay of the second half. Impressive D overall and particularly to start the second half while stretching the lead to 10.

Elonu and Carter played very well. Bone and Gilbert very mixed but somewhat better at times. Not much out of the point guards. White had a pretty good game overall.

Did not like Baker and all her weight running over Adaora, but Adaora took the blatant charge. Adaora in foul trouble again. That likely cost us the OSU game as she fouled out with 7 min to play.

Good free throw shooting as a team down the stretch. Way too many turnovers.

tceh missed some good close in shots.

12 point win in Lubbock is always a keeper.

We have actually played well so far on the road in conf except for the turn over debacle in Stillwater. 58% on free throws beat us at KSU.

Very impressive wins at ISU and KU! Seems like the team ready to play in all those road games except OSU.

On the radio broadcast Mike Wright kept commenting about how out of control Kelsi Baker was, showed her temper some, and was on the bench because of it.

I watched the replay last night and agree with previous comments. I thought Sydney was clutch with her shooting and driving to the basket several times. That must have made the Tech coaches crazy. I love watching her from the camera under the basket when she is at the foul line. Her concentration is amazing. She can't wait to get the ball from the ref.

I just watched first half again, and concentrated on watching our post players. Karla played better than I thought when I watched it the first time...Bone not bad overall. Bellock played well in limited action. Kelsey really struggled when she came in for Karla. 2 quick fouls and a very poor attempted entry pass to other post player.
Elonu played well and was steady as usual.
