During Monday's edition of TexAgs Radio, Richard Zane joined to take us Around Aggieland and provided updates from the gridiron, the pitch and beyond as it was a busy weekend for Texas A&M Athletics.


Football (3-1, 0-1 in SEC)
On Saturday afternoon, Texas A&M dropped its SEC opener and fell to Arkansas, 20-10, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

  • The loss snaps a streak of 11 consecutive wins dating back to last season as well as a run of nine consecutive victories over Arkansas dating back to 2012.

As a result of the loss, the Aggies have taken a hit in the polls, falling to No. 15 in the Associated Press poll and No. 13 in the Coaches Poll.

On Monday afternoon, Jimbo Fisher, Demani Richardson and Ainias Smith will address the media as the Aggies prepare to face Mississippi State this week.

Kickoff time for this week’s contest with the Mississippi State Bulldogs has officially been set as 6:00 p.m. CT on Saturday.

  • The game will air on SEC Network with Tom Hart, Jordan Rodgers and Cole Cubelic on the call.

Soccer (5-5-1, 1-2-0 in SEC)
The Aggies suffered a brutal road loss on Sunday afternoon as No. 11 Auburn defeated the Maroon & White, 3-0.

  • The loss is Texas A&M’s third consecutive defeat.

Texas A&M returns to action on Friday night as they face the Tennessee Volunteers at Ellis Field.

  • Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. on the SEC Network+.
  • The match will be Hispanic Heritage Night.

Volleyball (9-3, 2-0 in SEC)
Texas A&M cruised to a sweep of South Carolina on Sunday, 3-0.

  • 25-22, 25-22, 25-18
  • Mallory Talbert led the Aggie attack with 9 kills, while Camryn Ennis and London Austin-Roark both added 8.
  • Camille Conner tallied 32 assists.

The Aggies will travel to Rocky Top this weekend for a pair of matches with Tennessee in Knoxville.

  • Saturday: 4:00 p.m. CT on SEC Network+
  • Sunday: 12:00 p.m. CT on SEC Network

Women's Golf
After the first day of the Schooner Fall Class in Norman, Okla., the Aggies are tied for third place.

Cross Country
The Aggies were back in action on Saturday, running in the Texas A&M Invitational at the Dale Watts Cross Country Course.

  • Eric Casarez set a course record in the men's 8k, finishing with a 23:04.0 to claim the individual title.
    • As a team, the men finished second behind North Texas by a single point.
  • On the women's side, Julia Black (third, 17:31.1), Maddie Livingston (fourth, 17:49.7) and Grace Plain (fifth, 17:50.8) finished in the top five as the Aggies claimed the women’s title.

Texas A&M is back in action this weekend as they run in the Gans Creek Classic in Columbia, Missouri, against SEC opponents on Friday, Oct. 1.

Equestrian (1-0)
No. 5 Texas A&M opened the 2021-22 season with a win over South Dakota State on Saturday in Bookings, defeating the Jackrabbits, 11-8.

  • Emmy-Lu Marsh set a program record high in Reining, scoring a 78. Marsh was named the meet's Most Outstanding Performer.

Next, the Aggies will face Baylor on Friday, Oct. 15, in Waco.

Women's Tennis
The Aggies will play in the Baylor Invitational this weekend at the Hurd Tennis Center in Waco.

  • Action begins on Thursday, Sept. 30, and concludes on Sunday, Oct. 3.
