Pittsburgh Steelers take Dan Moore, Jr. in fourth round of 2021 NFL Draft
Texas A&M’s Dan Moore, Jr., who rose from obscure recruit to an All-SEC offensive tackle, was selected by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the NFL draft on Saturday.
Moore, Jr. was chosen in the fourth round, 128th overall.
His selection capped a roller-coaster collegiate career that began in 2017 when he decommitted from Oklahoma State and signed with Texas A&M.
A three-star prospect from Beaumont West Brook High School, Moore, Jr. made the first start of his career against Florida as a freshman. It was the first of 37 starts he made for the Aggies.
Moore, Jr. became a stalwart at left tackle as a sophomore. At times, the 6-foot-5, 315-pounder drew criticism. Some suggested he would be better served by moving inside to guard.
However, he had a tremendous senior season on a line that allowed just seven sacks in 10 games. He was also named the SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week for his performance in a 48-3 victory over South Carolina.
