Texas A&M women’s basketball landed four All-Southeastern Conference honors, the league announced Tuesday.

Texas A&M senior forward N’dea Jones was named to the first-team All-SEC for the second time in her career. Senior guard Aaliyah Wilson received second-team All-SEC honors, while Destiny Pitts earned 6th Woman of the Year and Ciera Johnson picked up Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Jones is currently nominated for the Katrina McClain Award and the Naismith Trophy for the NCAA women’s player of the year. The senior from Georgia is shooting at her career-best from inside the arc at 54.7% and averages 12.2 points and 10.5 rebounds a game. Jones holds the all-time record at Texas A&M for double-doubles and rebounds. Sunday, Jones broke the rebound record as the Aggies won the SEC regular-season title and beat No. 5 South Carolina.

N’dea Jones humbly responded to her success.

“I’m happy my team won and I feel like they needed the extra possessions I was able to give them.”

N’dea Jones has played a huge role in the Aggies’ overwhelming success this season.

Aaliyah Wilson collected the first All-SEC selection of her career. Wilson leads the team in points per game (13.2), blocks (19), steals (43) and accounts for the second-most assists (58). This senior guard has scored in double-digits 18 times this season, making it a team-high. After posting a career-high of 27 points against Arkansas, Wilson earned SEC Player of the Week.

Destiny Pitts received the 6th Woman of the Year honoree for Texas A&M. The last 6th Woman recipient representing the Maroon and White dates back to 2016 when Chelsea Jennings brought in the accolade. Pitts is most dangerous from behind the arc, where she leads the SEC and is fifth in the country with her three-point shooting average of 47.9%.

Ciera Johnson made history as the first Scholar-Athlete of the Year in the program. This senior captain earned a bachelor’s in human resource development and will receive her master’s in the Spring of 2021. Johnson is a Traditions Night Counselor, SEC Leadership Council Member, SAAC representative and serves as a founding member and vice president of the B.L.U.E. print at A&M.

Texas A&M ended the regular season 22-1 and 13-1 in SEC play, finishing with the SEC crown. The Aggies will face either Mississippi State or LSU on Friday, March 5 in the SEC tournament quarter-finals in Greenville South Carolina.

That is about right IMO this season I have thought over the past few years a couple were on the teams that made me scratch my head but this year not so much

do we think any of the seniors take that extra year...I think Jones and Johnson will be drafted with Jones late 1st at best but likely 2nd round...Johnson maybe at the end of the draft. Wells Wilson Dremaine and Pitts not drafted so could come back with all of the them currently working on their masters

The freshman didnt get a lot of playing time this year but have real promise.
