Key notes from Pat Henry interview

  • Our second group got back to town yesterday evening, and we are now all home after last weekend’s meet. Everyone home, but some without power, some with busted pipes. It’s an interesting time for everyone in Aggieland at the moment.

  • Right now, we’re shifting our focus to the SEC Indoor Championships. Our women’s team is looking to make a run at an indoor title, and they’re starting to hum on all cylinders. On the men’s side, we’re looking to get some people back and healthy to try and compete to the best of our ability.

  • The Women’s 4x400 team has done an excellent job competing as a team. They’re all also underclassmen, so they’re just getting started. They are running very well at the moment. When Athing Mu took the stick, she had about a 20-meter lead; then it was all over from there.

  • This week was the first week Lamara Distin was able to jump, and she was able to clear 5-11.5 in the high jump, and then we shut her down. We want to make sure she is healthy moving forward. Tyra Gittens won the high jump title with a clearance of 1.88m/6-2. With Distin returning, we have an outstanding jump group on the women’s side.

  • Bryce Deadmon was the highlight on the men’s side this weekend. We had some good things happen on the men’s side; I think we need to be completely healthy to have the best shot. That’s our key right now, get healthy and stay healthy.
