Key notes from Jamie McCoy interview

  • National attention is big. To move the needle nationally with only ten games on the schedule, I would say we need to win in the eight or nine-game range. Seven games would come up a bit short. Optimistically, I'd like to see us at worst lose one close game. It would say that we're here now. It's Jimbo's third year, and these are his guys now. You have to take that step forward. I'm hopeful that they can do that now.

  • There is a lot of things going for the Aggies now. We have outstanding facilities that are second to none. That can only benefit you. When you see that stadium, the fans and everything we have to offer, it speaks volumes to recruits.

  • I say we go over 7.5 wins in 2020. There are some challenging games with Auburn, LSU and Florida, but I think we get it done. I think we pay back Auburn and get both Mississippi schools no problem. I'll go over 2.5 wins against those tough teams.

  • I'm going to say Kellen Mond will average over 249.5 yards passing per game. I think with each game, Kellen should have at least one explosive touchdown. We should have a lot of those plays this year that will contribute to his total. Jimbo knows how to get the offense moving. He should go over 250 yards per game easily.

  • I expect over 99.5 rushing yards per game for Isaiah Spiller because he should be at 100. He should have five or six 8-yard-plus rushes per game. Combined with Ainias Smith and Devon Achane, we should be at about 200 rushing yards per game.

  • It Ainias Smith is coming out of the backfield, I think it'll be under 99.5 all-purpose yards for him per game. You'll have to get him out in the slot and move him around to get there.

  • Jhamon Ausbon easily gets 80 yards a game. Way over 79.5. I think he will be the crutch for Kellen Mond. It could be Jalen Wydermyer, but I see Jhamon as Kellen's third-down possession receiver.

  • Is Demond Demas going to be starting? I want to say under 7.5 receiving touchdowns for him, but I think he'll surprise us all and get eight because he's such a freak. I think Wydermyer goes over 7.5 touchdowns as well. He'll likely be in that eight range as well.
