I think what Isaiah did last year was show that he can be a productive college running back. Now he needs to show that he can be more than that. He needs to show that he can make a difference. Is he ever going to be as good as Trayveon Williams? Maybe, maybe not.
Everything I've heard is that Isaiah has dedicated himself to getting stronger and leaner.
I don't think that 1,200 yards is out of the question, even in just 10 conference games. It is absolutely doable if he gets enough carries.
He's fast enough and runs hard. What he has to prove is that he is not a fumbler. He fumbled the ball early in his career, but after a few games, he didn't drop the ball. I knew that fumbles were going to be an issue in his freshman year because they're hitting you harder than you've ever been hit before. Those three fumbles are cause for concern, but I'm not going to label him as a fumbler yet.
Where you pump the brakes on Spiller is that almost half of his yards came against Texas State, Lamar and UTSA. Maybe the stats were skewed, but everyone gets big yards against those weaker teams. He had 129 yards against South Carolina. He was extremely productive against Ole Miss. The next step is being productive against Alabama, Auburn and those types.
What we know about Isaiah Spiller is that he's a good player. We're going to find out how good he is this year.
The reports of how he's gone about the offseason have all been good. He just didn't look rocked up last year. All the reports are that he's gotten stronger, which probably means that he's gotten faster. He understands there is talent coming in and that Ainias Smith is pretty good as well. That gives me every reason to believe that Isaiah can have a good 2020. He's certainly an intriguing player.
