Looking for something to do this weekend? Former A&M QB and current assistant with the Indianapolis Colts Jerrod Johnson is hosting a virtual QB Camp benefitting the BAMFAM Foundation.

Key notes from Jerrod Johnson interview

  • The LiucciCast was good. It was fun to bring up those memories. It's funny how life comes full circle. I'm a big fan of Buzz Williams and him as a coach. I'm happy we have him here.

  • We're super excited. Chris Ballard has done a great job of getting a rocking roster. Philip Rivers has brought new energy and the transition has been seamless. When a guy like that starts spitting knowledge, it's pretty easy to see what he's a future Hall of Famer. We're really excited about what we have.

  • Football has always been my first love. I tried to play as long as I could, and coaching is the next best thing. I'm a direct result of my coaches, my dad, and my upbringing. I'm ready to share my knowledge with the next generation. I love it. I think my calling is coaching, and I'm 100% all-in. Hopefully, I can help the Colts win and eventually become a head coach someday.

  • We're pretty confident we can compete with the best in the NFL, but it's a week-in-week-out league where anyone can beat anybody. We've got to put it all together and start stacking Sundays.

  • I'm hosting a virtual camp. BamFam hosts these things and they asked me to do one. I've been in the camp space and all of that for a while. I think it's an ability to impact people. Mine should be unique because I'm going to be doing a coaches talk specifically for coaches and also doing a Q&A to answer anything and everything for them. After that, we'll do a virtual camp with a warm-up and drills.

  • It's a unique opportunity to reach out to kids. Bam Fam's goal is to reach as many kids as possible. With everything that's going on, reaching out and impacting the kids is so important right now.

  • I'm excited to share my information and coach a little bit. It has been a while since I've done something like this. Even with the Colts, we haven't done much in-person coaching because we're stuck on all of these Zoom calls right now.

  • We're optimistic about playing this year. They haven't told us much, but we're preparing like we're going to be rolling when we get there. We all want to play. It's what we love. We've all worked hard and we're excited about our team. We're prepping like we're going to play. I think the NFL is going to do all that they can to make sure we can play. From a coach's standpoint, we've been grinding to get ready for a season like normal.

  • I think Jimbo has made us talented. He has built a team to win. They've got depth. That will take you through the SEC. You'll have to go through a grind in the SEC, and I think he'll be able to sustain it.

  • Kellen Mond has matured. He should be poised to have a good year. I don't think one person wins in the SEC. Kellen just has to be who he is, share the ball, and not turn the ball over.
