Former A&M, current Broncos star Von Miller tests positive for COVID-19

Legendary Texas A&M football star Von Miller has tested positive for the coronavirus. In a statement Thursday evening, the Broncos said Miller “is doing well and recovering at home in self-isolation.”

Miller’s agent, Joby Branion, informed the NFL Network of the star linebacker testing positive.

“Von has elected to share his diagnosis publicly to emphasize that anyone can be afflicted with coronavirus,” the Broncos statement noted.

Miller and Los Angeles Rams center Brian Allen are the only NFL players known to have tested positive of the virus thus far, which has infected more than 2 million and caused more than 145,000 deaths worldwide. New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton recently recovered from the virus.

A star linebacker for the Aggies, Miller played for A&M from 2007-2010 and won the Butkus Award following his senior year. The Broncos selected Miller with the second overall pick in 2011, and he was the MVP of Super Bowl 50 after Denver defeated Carolina.

Miller, an All-American and Butkus Award winner, is the second former Texas A&M athlete to contract COVID-19. Basketball player David Edwards succumbed to coronavirus last month.

After experiencing flu-like symptoms, Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller has tested positive for COVID-19. Von has elected to share his diagnosis publicly to emphasize that anyone can be afflicted with coronavirus.

Von is doing well and recovering at home in self-isolation. He remains under the care of team doctors, who are following all coronavirus treatment procedures to ensure a safe environment for Von and our community.

Von is the first member of the Broncos' organization known to have tested positive for COVID-19.
