Notes from Liucci’s breakdown on Peevy
- I think Jayden Peevy is a future NFL defensive lineman. Along with Madubuike and Bobby Brown inside, he is apart of the strength of this defense.
- Physically, he is every bit of 6-6. I’m sure he’s over 300 pounds. He’s lean and can get those hands up. He’s quick-footed and agile. He can disrupt the passing lanes even when being blocked. Guys like Peevy can be pretty problematic.
- What he does will go beyond the stats. If Bobby Brown and Justin Madubuike are disrupting games late, it’s probably because Peevy got 25 reps earlier in the game. And then the plays that he does make will impact games as well.
- He’s got two years left to play. This is his breakout season to me. Maybe he’s a five sack guy this year. That’s not going to register throughout the SEC. But for what the Aggies need, that’s a breakout. This is the one position where the Aggies have been stocked lately. He’s going to play, and you want to see him take a big jump this year so he can start the next assuming Justin Madubuike leaves early. In 2020, you could see Peevy starting next to Bobby Brown. After 2020, they might have two NFL draft picks because Peevy has that kind of potential.
- He could play a little strong-side end. Keke had a little more twitch to him and was more of a tweener than Peevy. In certain sets, and in a three-man front, he could definitely be a guy you line up at end. It would be intriguing to see what a three-man front with Madubuike and Peevy at end with Bobby at the nose. Don’t forget, they’ve got DeMarvin Leal at defensive end as well.
- They’re building something with the younger guys. They’re going to have enough depth at the position with the younger guys.
