Key notes from Jo Evans interview
- 18 years running and we expect to be in postseason. That's who we are as a program. Sometimes you're just fighting to get in there. This was a year we were fighting. We have some really good wins in the SEC that got us in. We're looking forward to playing in Austin, it's nice to be close to home. It's all Texas teams so turnout should be good and it'll be fun.
- We're a whole lot different from Houston. They always have good pitching. Savannah Heebner is their ace. Outside of conference, they play a good schedule. They fight. They swing the bat. Look back at when we played them earlier this season, we played poorly. We were still trying to figure out our identity. I hardly recognize the team that played that day, compared to where we are now.
- It was an exciting and nerve wracking time for us to see our name on the board. Obviously, everyone is really excited. Postseason is really fun. Everyone is 0-0. I know everyone is really excited. It's always good and really important to get our youngsters some experience.
- Texas' coach came from Oregon and brought a bunch of players with him. It immediately flipped the dynamic. We've seen them a couple times in regionals in years past and now they're in a situation where they're hosting. They've brought in some really great players with PAC-12 experience.
