That's great, but he really needs to focus on play calling right now.

That's pretty sweet, and I agree that facility is needed from both a recruitment standpoint and a development standpoint. (I didn't realize we didn't regulate what they eat more.)

Did anyone else notice the "new south end zone" in the blueprint for the football complex?

Yes, I noticed it. It almost looks like a single deck when compared with The Zone.

Jelly, this was all done over the summer. You can be certain since before fall camp started Sherman has been 100% focused on the season (and recruiting)...

I believe in donating but he talks like we do not already have a giant weight room or a learning center. We already have both! The article also mentions upgrading the locker rooms as well for another couple million dollars. Our brand new locker rooms are already better than most NFL stadiums have. I am all in favor of the other projects mentioned. Why are those old tennis courts still there from 10 years ago?

The new south zone is small, but they are leaving room behind it for further expansion.

I was surprised when I first learned they were not in Cain too. This is a needed addition.

This new facility should also help in recruiting other sports, which I love.

Mgreen,

The current weight facility, while state of the art when built in the 80s, is now out-of-date and outsized when compared to other programs. Also, it's over used as all the athletic teams use it.

Steed is too small and all teams use it, we need a football specific weight and training facility as there are more football players than just about all other sports combined.

We need the dining facility as we don't have a place we can feed the entire team.

Sometimes I get very frustrated with the TMF and the Ath. Dept. and their coordination, or lack thereof, with the U. Those crappy tennis courts with a sliver of concrete stands have not been used in ages and in fact used to be larger and it was a parking lot on gameday. That should have been removed when Bright was built. Also when Bright was built we hosted a large # of recruits, families, and coaches then, why was Bright built with such a cramped and small entryway to begin with?

Sherman is a smart man and this is needed and necessary. When I heard him talk about it in August he stressed this is not just about his vision but is for the betterment and development of the program. Though i do love his drive and commitment and his goal for our program and that he is bot afraid to say so. Anyway, this will help him but he will not be here in 20 years but the program will be and this is needed to take us to the next level. It is OK for a recruit to say OU or tu or LSU or Bama has facilities on par or better than ours. It is not OK for the same to be said in comparison to the likes of OSU.

We need a "football village" that recruits and mama can see this is where I/my boy will eat, study, train, practice, and play, all in the same spot.

The facilities we have are outstanding - Bright, practice fields, indoor facility but it needs to be rounded out.

As a fairly new grad I gave what I could for Bright (low 4 figures), and I would encourage ALL of you to do the same. It might not seem like much, but even a $1200 donation, only $100 a month for one year, will help. If 1000 Aggie fans do this that is another $1.2 million they don't have to get out of a major donation.

It feels good to be a stakeholder in the program and have done more than just donated to get tickets, I hope everyone that can will get behind this, at whatever amount they can.

Gig 'Em.

To me this should all be priority over any renovation or remodel of Kyle Field.

Nearly 7 million of the 9 million needed for the development center has been funded. Ags need to step up and quickly donate the remaining 2 million. Every little bit helps so make sure you pitch in!

Netum Steed is still one of the top 7 largest strength and conditioning facilities in the country and still has plenty of room (there are 20 custom designed Aggie Power Station modular training units each capable of training 6 athletes at one time). A better investment might be to add more storage and office space to Netum Steed and add some new equipment. Kennedy just wants a place where his workouts (no warm-up, players come & go as they please, work at your own pace, etc.) won't get made fun of by other sports' athletes.

OU built a football only weight room which is approximately 1/3 as large as the Switzer Center weight room and is very crowded during football workouts. Most football only weight rooms are significantly smaller than the multi-sport facilities at other colleges. Unless you have a donor who wants to specifically fund a weight room (like Roy Williams at OU), it is a massive waste of $$$ to go out and build one.

i agree.

however its interesting to see this comment regarding this, but then we have that other thread were everyone thinks that sherman's lack of comment on the SEC has everything to do with not wanting to go, and nothing to do with focusing on the tasks at hand.

I have no problem demanding more out of the fan base = $$

So long as we can demand more out of him & his coaching decisions (i.e., calls that cost us 2 wins against top 10 teams)

But Jay is right on, this is a long term deal. It isn't about Sherman...it's about where the program needs to be.

i'm all about donating to support athletic programs, but i think an equal if not larger donation should be made to fund an academic scholarship of some kind. let's face it, the football guys have nearly every luxury that can be afforded, but the average student does not. even as a former s/a, i believe academics, and non-scholarship students should come first.

...and not get lost in the dark & dangerous university campus.

What happened to the idea that all Aggies (as in Texas A&M students) share a single campus village? Isn't this segregation based on athletic merit a little weird?

And plus, isn't it boring to have all of your daily activities located in the same spot?
