2020 Madison Prep Academy DB Major Burns commits to Texas A&M
The Aggies have nabbed a DB commitment out of the Bayou State today as Baton Rouge native Major Burns has decided to call College Station home for his college years. Burns is the sixth commitment in the 2020 class and the first pledge for Mo Linguist and Mike Elko in the defensive backfield.
“I had a dream that we won a national championship, and coming up here [to College Station] just put the icing on the cake,” Burns said.
Burns said receiving an offer from the Aggies felt like a dream come true. The A&M atmosphere, Kyle Field, College Station, and coach Fisher and his staff immediately caught his attention. After seeing it all in person, he knew it was the place for him.
"The environment," Burns said about what put the Aggies over the top. "It was an amazing and great sight."
Burns applies his trade at both safety and corner for Madison Prep Academy in the Louisiana State Capitol, and his tape shows the traits of an SEC West defensive back. The first thing that jumps out is his frame. At 6-3, 180 pounds, Burns uses his wingspan to get in receivers’ chests and get leverage. For a long kid, he shows a plus backpedal and change of direction. You can view his highlights below:
Burns chose the Aggies over scholarship offers from Florida State, Notre Dame, Mississippi State, Colorado, and many others. He will enroll early and he has a quick message for the fans in Aggieland.
"Let’s win a national championship, baby!" Burns added.
