Texas A&M center Erik McCoy will enter the 2019 NFL Draft

Erik McCoy, who has started at center for Texas A&M the last three seasons, announced that he will enter the NFL draft.

McCoy, a redshirt junior who is in his fourth year on campus, opted not to return for his final season, which puts an end to a brilliant though perhaps under-appreciated career at A&M.

That all-freshman honor was the only postseason recognition he’d receive despite a productive career.

Erik McCoy has anchored the Aggie offensive line for several years.

At 6-foot-4, 315-pounds, he played with great strength, toughness, technique and a mean streak that served him well.

As a sophomore McCoy started 11 games at center and two as guard. During the 2018 season he played solely at center. Despite being slowed injuries, he did not miss a start or more than a few plays.

He was recognized as the best member of the A&M offensive line that paved the way for running back Trayveon Williams to lead the SEC in rushing and break the A&M single season rushing record.
