Injury sidelines LB Anthony Hines for remainder of 2018 season
Texas A&M sophomore linebacker Anthony Hines will miss the rest of the season, coach Jimbo Fisher announced on Wednesday.
Speaking on the Southeastern Conference coaches teleconference, Fisher said Hines has a “lower body injury.”
Hines sat out the Aggies’ season-opening 59-7 victory over Northwestern State with the injury. He apparently re-aggravated the injury in A&M’s 28-26 loss to second-ranked Clemson last Saturday.
A four-star prospect out of Plano East High School, Hines was named to the Freshman All-SEC team last year when he posted 33 tackles, six tackles for loss, three sacks and forced a fumble.
He should redshirt this season and still have three seasons of eligibility remaining.
The loss of Hines adds to the what was already a significant area of concern for the Aggies in a lack of depth at linebacker. Sophomore Ikenna Okeke was lost for the season to an injury during August camp, and A&M has very little experience at the position behind Tyrel Dodson, Otaro Alaka and Buddy Johnson.
