Notes from Olin's thoughts on Green

  • Well I think Carson Green is a guy to be really excited about. I thought he was a good player last year. Was he great? No. He was a true freshman playing the offensive line. That says something right there, and it didn’t look to me like he was overmatched.

  • He had some really good moments. He had some times he got beat, of course he did. But, he went out there and competed at a high level. He was good. Was he great? No. Was he the type of guy that could contend for all-conference? Absolutely not. But, he was in there and was a solid good player as a true freshman. The upside of this guy is tremendous. The biggest question is if he will play on the left side or right side.

  • I think A&M is good at offensive tackle for the next three seasons. If you were looking for a freshman to come in and play a lot, to start about half the games or more, Carson Green was not the guy to put your money on this time last year. There were other high-profile guys that you would put before him. He was another guy that came in and didn’t care how many stars were next to his name, he just cared about blocking the guy in front of him.

  • I wouldn’t say Carson Green couldn’t be an all-conference guy. But, you show me a guy that comes in as a true freshman and plays right away, and isn’t physically overmatched, and put him with one of the best strength and conditioning coaches in the sport, a hard-nosed offensive line coach, and a demanding head coach, why not say he could develop into that kind of star player?

  • I’m going to guess he’ll be at right tackle over left tackle. When Coach talks about his nastiness and toughness, that leads me to think of run blocking. I did see Dan Moore playing some left tackle last year.
