Texas A&M Basketball
New basketball assistant Jeff Reynolds bringing up-tempo style to A&M
Key notes from Jeff Reynolds interview
- Texas A&M is Virginia Tech on steroids, you got about 36,000 students in Hokeyland and you got about 75,000 to 76,000 here at Aggieland. It is a little bit larger, but I think the mission of the institution and the cultures are very similar.
- The team looks In my eyes like the players look very much engaged like they want to work extremely hard. There effort shows, they have been like sponges to things we have been trying to implement. At this point, we might want to play a little faster but I think we have a really sound foundation. We could infuse some new techniques and actions.
- Admon Gilder he is a very steady force for this program you can see why he is an all-league player. His steadiness, he is a multiverse guy and can shoot the basketball with consistency. He is very coach-able and I can see him playing in the next level. He is a combination player, can play both sides of the floor and he is not turn over prone. When you say position-less, you say versatile guy who can play and do multiple things. The landscape of college and professional basketball has changed.
- Isaiah Jasey is a little different in the sense that he is naturally athletic and by that I mean he can run the floor easily. He has shown a lot of improvement by laying under control. If you can get one offensive putback a half, that is four extra points a game. Some players don't look at it that simply.
- What made me want to come here and join Billy Kennedy is more than the fact that we both have been in the game for so long was that I was very familiar with his style. I was the assistant at Tulane, he was the head coach at South Louisiana and they came into our place and beat us. But over the course of our careers, our paths have crossed. He has become a very good stable coach but he is an even better person. So when you look at it in the relm of college basketball you always want to be around great people. It is the big reason why I wanted to join this staff.
