In a crucial Southeastern Conference series, the No. 15 LSU Tigers (34-10, SEC 8-7) shut out the ninth-ranked Aggies (36-11, SEC 9-7) in the first game of a three game set Friday evening at Tiger Park.

The Aggies were threatening late, but couldn’t deliver the key hit with two base runners in scoring position and went 1-2-3 to end the rally in the top of the final frame.

LSU hit the ground running in the first when Taryn Antoine singled to left field. Antoine was then driven home when Amanda Doyle hit a shot through the left side to put the Tigers up, 1-0.

The Tigers then got an insurance run in the fifth when Emily Griggs hit a line drive to centerfield, then was driven home on a sac fly from Shemiah Sanchez to pad the score, 2-0.

A&M’s staff ace Trinity Harrington delivered a solid performance in the circle, tossing her ninth complete game of the year, allowing two runs on five hits, walking three and striking out one.

However, she was bettered by her counterpart, LSU's Carly Hoover who also delivered a complete game in the circle, allowing no runs on three hits to secure the win.

The Aggies return to the diamond tomorrow at Tiger Stadium for the second game of the series. First pitch is at 6:30 and the game is streamed nationally on SEC Network+.
