Texas A&M defeats Penn State behind Samantha Show's no-hitter, 8-0
The weather was nice Tuesday night, but the No. 7 Texas A&M softball team was even nicer. The Aggies sent Penn St. home in six quick innings, winning 8-0 and improving their overall record to 18-3 on the season.
The Aggies wasted no time lighting up the scoreboard. After playing solid defense in the top of the first inning, A&M’s bats and aggressive base running came alive in the bottom of the first. Keeli Milligan singled to left-center and scored soon on a passed ball. Kaitlyn Alderink followed with a walk and ended up scoring quickly on two more passed balls. Tori Vidales, who also walked, was brought in to score by Walters, who ripped a single up the middle.
In the bottom of the fourth, the Aggies added another run when Milligan singled to the pitcher and stole second base. Moreno singled to second base, which scored Milligan. The excitement didn’t end there, in the bottom of the fifth Fritsch walked, followed by Show who singled up the middle and Smith, who rapidly shut the game down with a game-ending, 2 RBI, triple down the right-field line.
The Aggies enjoyed success throughout the game and played to their fullest potential on both defense and offense.
“Happy to get our team out here on a Tuesday night and get a decisive win and have our kids playing well.” Coach Joe Evans said.
The Aggies will be back in action tomorrow night, Wednesday, March 7 at 4 P.M.
