BREAKING NEWS: Christian Kirk is good at football.

It was announced on Tuesday that Kirk has been named a first team All-American at wide receiver by the Associated Press in their annual preseason list.

This is just the latest honor for Kirk as he was previously named to Sports Illustrated's first team All-America list at kick returner and to the watch lists for the Biletnikoff, Paul Hornung, Maxwell and Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Awards.

Additionally this summer, Kirk was named a member of the All-SEC first team at wide receiver, all-purpose and return specialist spots.

Why are we celebrating for an award that is based on speculation?

Uhhh, we are A&M that's what we do. We're not too good at finishing things lately.

I hate pre-season awards just as much as pre-season rankings. Every guy on that list might blow out their knee in the first game. These guys all have the potential to be really good. But potential means you haven't done it yet.

Yes, this season hasn't happened yet, but as a bare minimum, I'll gladly acknowledge that Kirk has done a great job the last few years and has significant upside potential depending on if we can get the ball in his hands.

Congrats, Christian!

Because it's positive recognition for the university, football program, and an individual who performed at a level high enough to earn the accolade. Not to mention, it probably gives him a better opportunity to actually finish as an AA than someone who has to work themselves into the conversation.

Some of you guys are such buzz kills. Can we just enjoy some really nice preseason hype for a player and exposure for our football team.?
